First of all, I made summaries, which helped my student to learn Chinese more efficiently. Secondly, I gave regular quizzes to make her study constantly.Little gifts were given for encouragement, if she got high scores. Thirdly, I taught my student to classify the types of different questions. This helped her to understand the topics and score better in exams. Moreover, I tried to make my student love the subject. This made studying much easier and more enjoyable.

In addition, I have done a 1.5 month stint of relief teaching at a neighbourhood primary school a few years ago. I was responsible for teaching Chinese to Primary 1, 3 and 5. During my time there, I was the setter for the CA1 Chinese paper for the Primary 3 classes. Currently I am tutoring some students in the Primary level subjects.

I had a student who was with me for 2 years. She was from another country and was very weak in English language, this in turn affected her other subjects that were taught in English. I was able to help her to improve her grades for English (from Fail to Band 2). One of my student of 3 years was able to qualify for the Maths Olympiad Enrichment Class in Primary 3 this year.

I will be opening up small group tuition classes for Primary level subjects. This would be suitable for students who are looking at cheaper option to improve their grades and are comfortable in small groups. (Max 6 students in a class)

For the child to excel, I strongly believe in working hand-in-hand with the parents. Therefore, constant two-way feedback is essential in the way I work.

Should there be any need to reschedule or cancel a lesson, I will appreciate if a 24-hour advance notice is given. Rescheduling is subject to available time slot. Similarly, should I need to reschedule or cancel a lesson for any reason, I will also give advance notice and reschedule to another suitable time slot. Lessons during school holidays will proceed as usual, unless cancelled or rescheduled by the student. Should a lesson fall on a public holiday, it will be determined whether to proceed or reschedule by agreement between the parents, student and myself.
