Commitment / Other Details: I believe that as long as the tutee needs me, I will be there to provide assistance. I can start in a weeks notice. I may be away for In-Camp Training but will arrange my time to ensure maximum support for my tutees.

Rapport Building: I work with my tutees in a relax and friendly manner. I believe that a child can learn the most in their most comfortable state. I would stress the importance of getting good results for themselves and not to please their parents.

I use a whiteboard ( which I bring to class ) to revise in classroom style. And provide out of tuition support via whatsapp. I am currently teaching in a mainstream school in Choa Chu Kang area and have been teaching for 4 years.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: I adopts revise, learning ahead and practical method.

Revise - to check concept understanding of student, to re-teach if necessary.

Learning ahead - to learn faster than the school syllabus ( speed varies with tutee ability ).

Practical - tutee to practise with actual previous years tests and examinations paper ( provided by me ) to refine answering methods, correct any outstanding concept issues and familiarize tutee with examination question format.

Rapport Building: I believe when teaching children, there must be a good communication link between students and parents. Sometimes parents are hardly around so it becomes hard to establish rapport, so what I've been doing is to keep a notebook and write comments on their progress in it to keep parents updated on how their child is doing. Also, communication with students is very important. I like to build rapport in a way, i don't want them to see learning as a chore, but it has to be fun. This can only happen when the teacher is also their friend.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: Besides teaching music, I am also learning and playing with string ensembles. I keep myself updated with the ABRSM curriculum by subscribing to their newsletters and their syllabus.

As a Good Tutor: Mutual respect between student and teacher. And patience.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: In order to keep myself updated, I will familiarize myself with the curriculum by reading up the chapter or the topic to be covered before each tuition session so as to identify the most important points or concepts in the particular topic for the student to focus on and also to identify if supplementary content is required for advanced topics for better understanding.

As a Good Tutor: I believe that tutoring is not just about regurgitating textbook information. More Importantly, I feel that the identification of the student learning techniques and the interest to learn is paramount in understanding and retention of information. An effective learning strategy allows the student to excel in the subject and also applies to future studying endeavours whereby he/she can achieve constant good grades.
