Rapport Building: I view my students as vessels waiting to be filled with knowledge. In my opinion, this has to be supported with enforcing a good value system. As a tutor, it is not just about teaching the content from the syllabus. While of course grades are of utmost important, understanding concepts and the realization of what a good education does are equally pivotal.

To back this claim, I have been blessed with many students who will be more than willing to provide supporting documentation to quantify this claim. I also adopt a mentoring approach during my group lessons, during which the students with a better ability assist the ones who are weaker. The once weaker students, upon having demonstrated substantial improvement emulate this system thereafter. This, in my opinion, build empathy and confidence.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: As I am currently a teacher, I am constantly updated on changes in the curriculum and do communicate this to the students. When you build an adaptive student, seldom are they affected by curriculum changes.

As a Good Tutor: Love what you do, appreciate differences and always be present in the moment. A good tutor does not end the class when the time is up. He/She is one who cares for and caters to the holistic knowledge and character development of the child under his/ her charge.

Commitment / Other Details: I teach Full-Time Tuition. All my past students have improved their results. I come out with written notes, tailored study strategies for all my students. I'm well-versed with the latest MOE syllabus.

Rapport Building: I believe that in order to build good relationship with students, you must treat them as a friend. At the same time, there are times where a line should be drawn between a tutor and his student. In order to build rapport with the student, mutual understanding and respect is a key to the lock.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: As a student, in order to keep up with curriculum, he must do his OWN notes as well as do his homework.
As a tutor, its my duty to keep up with the syllabus changes and help the student to get onto the track and keep up with the curriculum. This can be done by ensuring student do his notes and homework .

As a Good Tutor: As a good tutor i strongly believe that not only should we teach a subject itself but rather teach a person. Ultimately a tutor is to educate student. And the purpose of education is not merely scoring A's but rather equip students with necessay skills so that he can excel in studies and eventually excel in life. It is a tutors duty to also teach students skills which are not emphasized or even thought in schools such as basic reasoning, logic thinking, how to approach a question, how to source for answers, how to question something , knowing what is right and wrong , proper values ,etc. It won't be easily to achieve all these as it requires the student coorperation. So a good tutor must also understands the human psychology, he must be able to put himself in the students shoes and help him. Only then can the student be able to accept the tutor and cooperate with him.
