I am very happy to share that my students did very well for 2014. One of my primary 4 student from Haig Girls scored 93 for Maths and 91 for Science. I have been tutoring her since she was primary 3. When she joined me in primary 3, her marksfor Mathematics was75. Another Primary 5 student from Casuarina Primary, scored 75 for Maths. He was the highest in his class. Last year when he joined me, his Mathematics marks was 54. His mother says he never scored more than 55. Parents, if you want your children to do well in Maths come to me. Rapport Building: I believe that in order to build good relationship with students, you must treat them as a friend. At the same time, there are times where a line should be drawn between a tutor and his student. In order to build rapport with the student, mutual understanding and respect is a key to the lock.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: As a student, in order to keep up with curriculum, he must do his OWN notes as well as do his homework.
As a tutor, its my duty to keep up with the syllabus changes and help the student to get onto the track and keep up with the curriculum. This can be done by ensuring student do his notes and homework .

As a Good Tutor: As a good tutor i strongly believe that not only should we teach a subject itself but rather teach a person. Ultimately a tutor is to educate student. And the purpose of education is not merely scoring A's but rather equip students with necessay skills so that he can excel in studies and eventually excel in life. It is a tutors duty to also teach students skills which are not emphasized or even thought in schools such as basic reasoning, logic thinking, how to approach a question, how to source for answers, how to question something , knowing what is right and wrong , proper values ,etc. It won't be easily to achieve all these as it requires the student coorperation. So a good tutor must also understands the human psychology, he must be able to put himself in the students shoes and help him. Only then can the student be able to accept the tutor and cooperate with him.

Commitment / Other Details: Has taught over 200 students with 100% passing rate for PSLE and O Level exams. I believe that best result only shows if both student and teacher are given sufficient time to work with one another.

Rapport Building: I am serious in my job, which is to improve my students' results. I am highly experience in striking a balance in being stern when needed, while building a strong teacher-student bond. It is important that students are comfortable with the teacher and vice versa. Therefore, I will always strive to build up the trust between my students and me.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: It is important for a tutor to always have a clear idea of school curriculum so as not to confuse the student. Tutor teaching one thing while school teacher teaching another is dangerous in veering the student in the wrong direction. Thus, I will always make sure that whatever I impart to the student will be in tune to what he/she is learning in school.

As a Good Tutor: I believe in the 3-way channel in attaining good results. First, a tutor has to be serious and committed in helping the student. Second, the student himself/herself should have the drive and passion to improve. Lastly, parents too, play an important part. When the tutor leaves for the day, it is then up to the parents to make sure that the student follows the tutor's instruction in completing practises or homework. One link cannot work without the other. Hence, when all parts are played well, good results are inevitable.
