Graduated with the Deans Commendation for High Achievement with a cumulative GPA of 6.5/7.0 from top 1% university. Confident in tutoring in all aspects of elementary sciences and also imparting learning and studying techniques which enabled me to excel in the course of my studies. Willing to communicate with students' parents in order to help students to further excel in his/her studies.
Able to start tutoring immediately and flexible to session changes. I am able to commit up to 3 months in tutoring.
Rapport Building
Understanding the student needs and studying strategies is important in effective learning.
For the first session I will determine his/her character, interests, understanding and studying technique in order to advise on the preferred studying techniques and strategies to maximize the learning potential of the student.
Subsequently, I will encourage having always having questions of the day in order get the student thinking on the subjects as a habit and promote/refine critical thinking processes.
After each session, giving feedback to parents on strength and weakness of the student, and the recommended supplementary exercises to follow up on areas that the student are uncertain in are important to keep parents updated with the progress of the student.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
In order to keep myself updated, I will familiarize myself with the curriculum by reading up the chapter or the topic to be covered before each tuition session so as to identify the most important points or concepts in the particular topic for the student to focus on and also to identify if supplementary content is required for advanced topics for better understanding.
As a Good Tutor
I believe that tutoring is not just about regurgitating textbook information. More Importantly, I feel that the identification of the student learning techniques and the interest to learn is paramount in understanding and retention of information. An effective learning strategy allows the student to excel in the subject and also applies to future studying endeavours whereby he/she can achieve constant good grades.
