    Having a close relationship with my students & their parents is important. A child's progress cannot be relied on the twice a week tuition session. It is the effort of both tutor and Parent.

    I usually spend 5-10 mins weekly talking to the parents and letting know which are the areas that the child is weaker in, how he/she has improved thus far, and what I plan to do to help him/her. I will also communicate with the parents on the goals that I set with the child and get their help to motivate and encourage the child.

      I have been tutoring for the past 4 years. I have experience teaching students from Express ,Normal Acad and Normal Tech streams. Most of my students are generally weak in Maths and I have seen significant improvement over a course of 6 months to a year depending on the student's Mathematics background. Improvements will definitely be seen but significant improvement will only be possible with the correct attitude from the child and support from parents.       I believe that teaching can only take place if there is good rapport between teacher and student and I always make an effort to build this rapport along the way so that students will be able to approach me with any questions they have. I also make it a point to update parents on the progress or any issues the child is facing. This makes monitoring much easier for me and the parents.
      Keeping Up with Curriculum
      I am up to date with the latest syllabus as I have been involved in recreating resources for the levels that I teach to suit the new Maths syllabus.
      As a Good Tutor
      I am patient and also motivate my students. Since I have been exposed to the different streams I generally know how to deal with certain misconceptions students may have in the subject. I also make the effort to set up Facebook pages for my students to visit to watch Maths related videos to enhance their understanding of certain difficult concepts. Students now a days are more of visual learners and it helps that certain concepts are better understood with the help of such videos from youtube. I also keep myself contactable so that my students can ask any doubts they have so that they can get a faster response rather than waiting till the next lesson.

      I have no experience in teaching other children. However, I believe I can help my students to be effective learners as I can help them to close their learning gaps.

      I have been my children "tutors" all this while, including one of my daughter who has autism. I used multi sensory and mastery learning approach when I teach my children.

      So far, my son cope very well in his school subjects and this year he got first in class and all his subjects were in top three position. I have been homeschooling my girl who is turning six. She is also coping well with her literacy and able to read at grade 1 level. She has also completed her K2 math curriculum and now is moving to P1 Math.
