Tuition/Teaching Experience
I have been tutoring for the past 4 years. I have experience teaching students from Express ,Normal Acad and Normal Tech streams. Most of my students are generally weak in Maths and I have seen significant improvement over a course of 6 months to a year depending on the student's Mathematics background. Improvements will definitely be seen but significant improvement will only be possible with the correct attitude from the child and support from parents. Currently teaching in a Secondary school so I am up to date with the new maths syllabus.
Individual tuition
Each session would be a min of one and a half hours
Group tuition
2 students - each session would be a min of one and a half hours
3 students - each session would be a min of 2 hours
* For group tuition preferably not more than 3 students ( would not be as effective)
Timings (can be flexible on certain days especially during holidays)
Mondays- Thursdays: 6pm onwards
Weekends: Anytime between 9am-3pm
I can start anytime after 15 Nov 2013.
Rapport Building
I believe that teaching can only take place if there is good rapport between teacher and student and I always make an effort to build this rapport along the way so that students will be able to approach me with any questions they have. I also make it a point to update parents on the progress or any issues the child is facing. This makes monitoring much easier for me and the parents.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I am up to date with the latest syllabus as I have been involved in recreating resources for the levels that I teach to suit the new Maths syllabus.
As a Good Tutor
I am patient and also motivate my students. Since I have been exposed to the different streams I generally know how to deal with certain misconceptions students may have in the subject. I also make the effort to set up Facebook pages for my students to visit to watch Maths related videos to enhance their understanding of certain difficult concepts. Students now a days are more of visual learners and it helps that certain concepts are better understood with the help of such videos from youtube. I also keep myself contactable so that my students can ask any doubts they have so that they can get a faster response rather than waiting till the next lesson.
