In my early years of teaching at the private institute, I helped the lead teacher with the instruction of the students who were slow or had learning challenges. I have acquired some teaching techniques that I can use with the slow learners to help them catch up to their classmates in class.

Over the course of my four years of home tutoring, I have taught over 28 kids up until the last academic year. All of the lessons were held in my home, but this year I'm switching to one-on-one instruction at the student's location for several reasons. Currently, I'm teaching 3 secondary school students mother tongue language and HMTL, as well as 4 primary school students English and math. I instruct Tamil for students in Primary 1 through Secondary 4, Math and English for students in P1 to P3, English for students in P1 to P6.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: As someone who just graduated from IB, the curriculum is still freshly in my head. I also have a gauge of secondary curriculum as my siblings have just completed their O' levels and I assisted them in their studies. Additionally, I confer with school teachers and other tutors to ensure my understanding of the curriculum is updated. When the curriculum changes, as it recently did for the History O' level curriculum, I not only checked the MOE website to see if the learning objectives changed, I also purchased school textbooks to read up on the new topics.

As a Good Tutor: Good tutors are ones that help the child to enjoy learning, while still maintaining a balance between fun and diligence. I was lucky to have tutors that I was able to connect and build a rapport with, but we knew when to study and be serious. Hence, I aim to promote genuine interest in the subject I teach, but also push my students to do their best. I myself strive for excellence, and I endure to help my students reach their maximum potential.
