Able to commit till March 2013, available Mon-Fri 10am-11pm, able to go to student's home for tutoring session.
Rapport Building
Prior to the session, i normally start with a phone call to the student and/or the parents to get basic information about the student and what he requires out of the sessions. During the first lesson, I will do some self-introduction and also ask questions both related and non-related to the session to get to know more about the student.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I seek information from friends who are still studying about the latest books they are using for their course and get the updated syllabus and learning objectives for the various course.
As a Good Tutor
The basic requirement to be a good tutor is someone who has high level of head knowledge in the required field and also the ability to impart that knowledge to others, meaning to have strong teaching skill. But more importantly, a good tutor must be able to be sensitive to student's needs and tweak (not change) his teaching style according to their needs. He must also be able to instil the importance of consistent efforts in studying and inspire his students to have discipline in following their study schedule, because ultimately it takes consistent efforts to do well in exams.

    Not being a full time tutor would mean that I do not have a full understanding of the curriculum, thus i would need the feedback from the student. Assuming it is a one-to-one tuition, i would be able to go at the pace at which the student requires and focus on his/her weaker topics at the same time.

This can be done through basic goal settings and the provision of constant encouragements. Without being mentally positive, even if the student has the ability to do well, he/she will sub-consciously sabotaged his/her own performance.
          As the cliche phrase goes: Your beliefs become your thoughts. Your thoughts become your actions. And your actions will ultimately become your results. Hence, the very first step is to ensure that the student is confident of his/her own capabilities so that he/she will do the right things to produce outstanding results.

          I would like to commend tutor Chan Ching Leong for the excellent tuition he provided to my son
          Ching Leong is a caring and professional tutor. He is well versed in the E Math/A math syllabus and has a knack of simplifying the math concepts. He is also quick to pin point my son's learning style and weaknesses and so is able to close the gaps in his Math performance within a short period of time. In less than 2 months, my son's grades improved from F9 to A1.
