Commitment / Other Details
Able to start working at short notice, perhaps within 2 weeks of being contacted. Most likely to be able to commit for at least a year once a contract is accepted.

Single tuition sessions would be preferable.
Rapport Building
I feel the most important thing when working with students is to have trust and respect. People learn better from a friend than they do from a superior. Through fostering a comfortable student teacher relationship, a better understanding of the student's academic problems is achieved, allowing for a more specific approach to tackling individual problems.

Parents are ultimately most concerned for the future of the students and grades often are often used as estimates as to how well the students do in school. It would therefore be ideal to explain the problems in examination situations faced by the students to the parents, so as to allow parents to make informed choices regarding how to streamline approaches to enhancing the scholastic ability of each student.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
Purchasing second hand textbooks and interaction with students is the best way to keep with the curriculum, it allows us to not only keep up to date with the content, but also the answering techniques which the students will ultimately use during the examination.
As a Good Tutor
A good tutor, must be a good teacher. This means being patient, and understanding that each student is an individual with different strengths and weaknesses. A tutor should also strive to make each lesson work to enhance what is taught in school, rather than to repeat it, thus promoting a more rounded understanding of each subject taught.

    Tuition/Teaching Experience
I am an ex MOE certified Primary School Chinese Language teacher, previously taught at a SAP Primary School in Bukit Timah, thus i am experienced with teaching Higher Chinese for Primary school students. I had taught students ranging from lower ability, to mixed ability to high ability, using different teaching methods for different students so that they will always be engaged in learning. As the school i was from is a SAP school, Chinese language is very important and thus i'm equipped with the skills to bring out the interest in Chinese language for the students. Being a Singaporean myself, I am fluent in both English and Chinese, and I understand what kind of problems our local students met with while learning Chinese, thus giving the right solution for them.

    Commitment / Other Details
I am a full time tutor thus my timing is more flexible and I am able to commit for long. I am currently teaching students from K1 to Secondary 2.
I had seen students of mine improving on their attitude towards Chinese after a semester with me and parents had feedback that their children had enjoyed my lessons.
Chinese is a culture, a language, not a plain subject, thus we need to understand that it takes time to build up the interest, but I definitely have ways to assist the child to tackle exam questions.
    Rapport Building
I will find out about the student's interest outside academia, and from my past experiences, i understand that many students are afraid or dislike Chinese language, thus i will tackle this problem first by injecting interesting ways of learning, to complement the usual memorization of characters and doing assessment books.
As for parents, I will keep a notebook to monitor the student's progress or through email communication to keep them informed/discuss about the student's issues.
    Keeping Up with Curriculum
I have many ex-colleagues who are still in the teaching service and thus, i am still updated with the curriculum in schools. Also, i will be doing relief teaching in schools and I will still be as relevant as possible with the current curriculum.
    As a Good Tutor
As a good tutor, the most important quality would be to fire up the learning interest of the student. In the classroom, a school teacher doesn't have the time to concentrate on each and every individual student, thus as a tutor, it will be good if he/she can boost the confidence of the student in that subject so that he/she can learn better at school.

Number of years of tutoring experience = 6 years

As a highly motivated tutor with a passion for teaching, I have coached several secondary three and four students over the past 6 years. My students have always seen me as a good friend and big sister rather than just a tution teacher. Many students have complimented me on my patience and ability to see things from their perspectives, enabling me to explain various concepts to them. This is especially so when they have difficulty understanding these concepts when they are taught in school.
To me, the greatest sense of satisfaction is obtained when my students achieve excellent results, performing even beyond their own expectations. The appreciation from students and parents further motivate me to continue helping more students.

      Rapport Building
My students have always treated me more like their friend than their teacher. This friendly relationship will allow the students to open up to me without any reservations. This will encourage them to openly share their doubts and questions with me. Only then will I be able to target the areas which they are unsure of and address their queries. This approach has worked well over the past 6 years and my students are still very grateful to me till this day, occassionally sending me messages on how they are doing in JC/Poly.

To the parents, I am seen as a trustworthy and reliable tutor who will provide them with regular updates on their child's progress. The parents and I share a common goal which is to ensure the most effective learning experience for their child.
      Keeping Up with Curriculum
I have been tutoring for the past 6 years and hence I am kept up to date with the current curriculum. I will also read up on the syllabus published every new academic year to ensure that I am focusing on the right areas when tutoring my students.
      As a Good Tutor
To be a good tutor, I feel that passion and patience are some of the most important attributes. With a passion for teaching, I will put in my utmost best into coaching my students and the greatest reward to me is seeing my students achieve excellent results. Being patient and trying to see things from the students' perspective allows me to communicate effectively with them and explain concepts so that they will be able to understand and apply what they have learnt..

I have achieved consistent "A"s for my GP/english and aced my "A' level H2 Math as well as secured a place at NUS FASS, which sets rigorous standards for a potential freshmen's english proficiency.

I have tutored some of my classmates in peer tutoring sessions before as well as conducted holiday workshops for juniors who struggled with English and Math.

Despite my relative lack of teaching experience, I am certain that with my assistance your child can perform even better not only in tests and examinations, but in work efficacy and efficiency as well. My study methods for GP and Math eschew conventional rote-memorisation and nondescript "mugging" for more enterprising solutions towards a more enriching learning experience.

                Commitment / Other Details
I will accept the tutee's quoted rate for a 3 month trial period, after which I will raise my rates by 20%. Rates are still absolutely negotiable, and I am willing to accept below-average rates.

I insist on one-to-one tutoring since it provides for a more incisive and intimate approach that the classroom cannot provide. In this aspect, it is my opinion that group tuition no different from regular school classes.
