I also believe that motivation has to come from within and thus I place great emphasis on mastery and understanding as well as knowing why there is a practical use for the knowledge that is learnt.

Lastly, I train students to be aware of their own strengths and weaknesses, particularly in the area of exam preparation and exam techniques. These include finding the best method and timing to do revision as well as making a comprehensive revision plan.

I am able to start tuition immediately. However, my time slots are filling up quickly.

I can commit to tuition for the entire year. Holiday sessions are negotiable.

I believe in getting to know my students and their parents well so that a more holistic education can be achieved. Every student has different challenges and strengths from their personality and upbringing and I hope that by getting to know them well, I will be able to cater to their needs and tackle the challenges together with them.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
My wife is currently still in the teaching service and I have many contacts who are my ex-colleagues and friends still currently in the teaching service. Also, I am still in contact with other MOE Teaching Scholars from the same batch as I.
As a Good Tutor
A good tutor understands the weaknesses and strengths as well as unique preferences and dispositions of his students, and caters the teaching style and pedagogy to the student. In short, the entire teaching methodology should be catered to suit the student best.

In addition, a good tutor should not hope to keep the student forever. I believe the tutor should teach such that the student can one day be independent and finally have no need for further support, and will be able to face whatever challenges that arise in that subject, having learnt the skills and tools to solve the problems.

      I started to tutor student since JC1. Up to date, I have had 3 Primary sch students, 1 Sec 3 student and 1 JC2 student. The Sec 3 student I taught finally made it to VJC. As I am now a year 4 student who is specialised in Electronics Engineering in NTU, so I am quite good at both maths and physics despite I did not do well in physics in Alevel. In fact, the JC student I taught last time, I managed to pull up her physics grade from failing to grade C in the mid term CA test. And the key of improvement I believe is that it is more important for me to guide my student to think on his own first in the early stage of tutoring and teach them tactics to solve questions when exams are approaching

        I generally charge about 30 per hour. I worked with special needs kids. I have gained valuable experience working with kids who are slower than the mainstream or require special catered attention due to their general learning difficulties.
