Commitment / Other Details: I am able to begin immediately, weekdays included. However, after August 2014, I would be only be able to make it on weekends due to school, but I will make certain exceptions. Will do a double session on weekends. Can commit till Dec 2014, then I will be going on exchange for 6 months. Will find another suitable tutor for the student.

Rapport Building: I would talk to them like a friend, and not a teacher. Instead of constantly bugging them to do their work, I would give them occasional short breaks and motivate them. I will talk to their parents after every session to discuss what I've gone through with their kids, and what they can improve on.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: I read up on textbooks to refresh myself on concepts that are being taught now in schools.

As a Good Tutor: A good tutor must possess patience, knowledge, dedication, commitment, excellence, and most importantly, to be able to help the students to achieve their desired results.

RATES: A rate of $65/hr if parents come to my place, $75/hr if I have to travel to theirs. Note that this includes an agent's commission. However, this is negotiable.

Rapport Building: In a typical tutoring session, I ask the child a little bit about his or her interests and their school, and then I ask where they're having trouble. Typically, I also expect a sample of their schoolwork and homework, as well as the most recent report card. If this isn't available, I ask them to write me a creative piece or an essay, or give them some comprehension questions I've prepared beforehand.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: I will go to the MOE's website and track down the English curriculum, then design exercises and activities using that.

As a Good Tutor: Warmth and rapport with students, regular feedback to parents, good assessment of students (e.g. regular tests, with scores recorded each time). Tutors need to be well-prepared and be passionate and knowledgeable about their subject(s).
