Am available to work 1 weekday evening(Mon-Thur), and 1 sat mon/early afternoon. Location of the classes preferably anywhere near Ang Mo Kio/Bishan/Yio Chu Kang

Rapport Building: While working as a Student Care Teacher, I tend to highlight behaviors that were not acceptable in class to the parents at the end of the day, and at the same time check with the parents about the child's emotions/behaviors at home.. suggesting that there must be a reason behind the behavior. I would also praise the kid in front of parent if the child has been consistent with work. I make sure that parents know how their kid has been doing. One way is having their mobile number so that it can be a two way communication between the parents and myself.

I also make sure I motivate my students with praises, small gifts(stickers), point system depending on what kind of motivation appeals to them more. Usually I would also spend 5-10 mins before class time to ask how did they spent their holidays or their day at school. This allows me to understand the child better, as well as ensure that the child is comfortable talking to me. So I find being a tutor in not only there to guide the child's academic, but as well as to mould the child's character in all areas.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: I have been teaching for the past 2 years so I was kept in the loop of how school curriculum is like. I also have friends who are tuition teachers as well..So time to time, we would check and share about the school curriculum.

As a Good Tutor: Attentive, observant to know the child's likes and dislikes, strengths and weaknesses.

Motivational. Being able to know how to motivates to child to study, to learn, to excel

Patient. Knowing that different children has different learning pace, a good tutor needs to be patient towards different individuals.

Organized. One must plan and have a goal in mind which requires one to be organized in order to work towards achieving good results

Tuition/Teaching Experience: Although I have never given tuition before, I am currently an intern under MOE at a secondary school teaching both English Literature and Social Studies, which I feel has equipped me with the knowledge and understanding of the secondary school syllabus and the troubles faced by students in the subjects that I teach.

Furthermore, I have greatly enjoyed my time teaching and would like to take my experience one step further through tutoring. Commitment / Other Details: I am able to commit as soon as possible as I currently have no other engagements other than my internship. I am unsure as to how long I can commit as I am still awaiting the results to my university admissions, but it is likely that I can commit until late August or September.

Rapport Building: I think that I will be able to build rapport with my students as I can empathise with their struggles -- both academically and otherwise -- given that I have just graduated from junior college and still have a fresh memory of my experience as a student. I would be able to understand what makes lessons interesting for them and what does not. Furthermore, the subjects that I intend to teach are more personal in nature, where it is necessary to understand my student better in order to understand how they think and formulate arguments for their questions. Hence, rapport building will definitely be one of the top priorities when it comes to tutoring my student!

Keeping Up with Curriculum

As a Good Tutor: I can commit to putting in every effort to help my students overcome their weaknesses and struggles. I think a tutor's top priority would be to help their tutees gain a greater understanding of the subject such that it becomes more intuitive and easier to understand, and thus build confidence such that they will be able to handle exams in school with ease. Thus, I think I can be a good tutor as I am patient and understanding, which I feel are the key traits that tutors need in order to help their students overcome the difficulties that they have encountered in their work.

As a Good Tutor: For an example, I know just by doing assessment exercises are not enough to help my students master good command of the Chinese language. So, I went to the library to look for interesting comic books that teach good values and are easy to read, and through with my students during using 5 mins of every lessons. For older students, I will pass them 1 copy of the good articles which I have collected over the years to read each week. To reach a score of "A", every effort counts. This is what I believe and nothing beats reading to master a language well.

Tuition/Teaching Experience: Prior experience in tutoring back in 2013. For Maths, my belief is "practice makes perfect". It's not that hard once you started doing and applying formulas. For Physics wise, understanding the core concepts is the key. Likewise practising and applying correct formulas are equally important in scoring well for the subject.
