Tuition/Teaching Experience
I specialized in teaching H2/H1 Economics ever since 2010. I am also equally well versed in teaching Secondary School A/E mathematics.

My ex-students find me as someone who is always approachable for help as well as being dedicated to their academic progress. The general consensus from them is that I am able to verbalise and explain concepts out clearly and easily for them to understand/internalize.

Teaching philosophy: A degree of autonomy must be given to the student to express his/her potential. Providing homework is a must as a tutor. I believe in inspiring and exciting my students to increase their appetite in learning. Hard work and consistency are the keys to my teachings.

I am able to start tuition immediately. Based on my track record, I am fully committed to my tuition assignment until my students graduate.

I am a part-time tutor who is only available during weekdays after 7pm. Majority of my tuitions are conducted during weekends.
Rapport Building
Teaching style: I adapt my teaching style to the needs of my students. Various factors of the students; such as Age of the student, Personality of the student, Academic abilities of the student, degree of extraversion etc. will influence my teaching style.

One of the most important factor in tutoring is to first build up a "safety environment" for students to be comfortable in. Once they feel they are able to express themselves, only then tutors are able to educate them effectively.

Usually, I will feedback the students' progress and needs to the parents on a month to month basis. By establishing a feedback loop, all parties are able to constantly reach a common level of understanding. Ultimately, the student is the one who benefits from an honest assessment.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
By visiting the MOE website to check on the yearly updates for each subject and the purchase of yearly preliminary examination questions do enable me to keep myself updated with the curriculum.
As a Good Tutor
As a good tutor, one must be able to understand the needs of the student and customized his/her learning by focusing on areas for improvement. Communication is key during tuition and I circular my teachings based on constant feedback and interaction. Since I am the one who is dictating the flow of the session, the tutor must always allocate time for students to voice up and verbalise/showcase her understanding. Dishing out of appraisals and criticisms must be justifiable - reinforcements do help to reward positive learning attitude. Lastly, the tutor ought to be resourceful - someone who is capable of providing additional/supplementary materials to facilitate the student's learning experience.

I used to teach 3 students in the years 2012-2013, one P2, one P5 and one P6. For the P2 student, I taught him English, Maths and Chinese; for the P5 student, I taught her English and Maths while for the P6 student, I taught him English and Chinese and occasionally Maths.

I also used to volunteer at a Family Service Centre on a weekly basis as a peer tutor, and I did this for close to a year before quitting to focus on my A levels. I would take up to 2-3 primary school students (ranging from P1 to P6) at one time.

Personally, I like interacting with children and have more experience tutoring young students, hence I would prefer to tutor younger students :)

I have a rather flexible timetable in University so fret not if your child is unable to attend the stipulated slots due to unforeseen circumstances! I would prefer tutoring on weekends but weekdays are fine with me too. I am able to start anytime from now and will be able to commit to the tuition assignment up till the end of this year.

However, I will not be available from end-May to mid-June because of an overseas trip :)

As for the D grade you see in my 'General Paper' slot, it was an unfortunate accident due to exam jitters. Rest assured that I've taken the NUS Qualifying English Test (QET) and gotten the highest grade on my first try in November 2014.

            Keeping Up with Curriculum
I might be a little out-of-touch with the current curriculum because I attended primary school many years ago, but before tutoring your child, I will definitely read up more on it and get assessment books and textbooks from Popular.

Moreover, quite a few of my cousins are in primary school so I will borrow the books from them to keep up with the curriculum too :)
            As a Good Tutor
I would say I'm quite patient and I do not mind repeating myself or explaining concepts several times, haha! I believe that understanding the core concept is one way to score well in examinations. I do not claim to know everything, but I will definitely try my best to work out a solution :)

One P5 student I've tutored before was actually diagnosed with ADD, and while I'm not saying I am definitely able to handle children with special needs, I will try my best to. Studying Psychology in University also gives me an edge :)

Also, I absolutely love pets so don't worry if you keep pets at home!

Science is not my best subject and hence I do not offer to teach Science. I used to be very good in Chinese when I was in primary and secondary school, but I have not touched Chinese since Secondary 4 and hence I would prefer to teach Chinese only for Primary 1 to Primary 3.

I have tutored four primary school students in English and Mathematics over the past year, and have seen their grades improve by a range of 5-10 marks from the time I started teaching them to when the teaching stint ended/the present. Regarding the medium of instruction, I am effectively bilingual and can tutor in both English and Chinese, and have done so in the past. Currently, I am tutoring one Primary 5 boy (English) and one JC2 Student (China Studies in English).

Regarding English, especially, I have taken part in and won awards at several creative writing competitions, such as the 2010 Word Flow! Poetry Competition (1st), Commonwealth Essay Competition (2011 Special Award for Creative Writing; 2012 Gold Award) and the Writing the City Migrant Stories Competition (1st). I would be most glad to take on students who wish to improve their creative writing.

I have studied the piano up to the Grade 8 level and achieved a Merit at the ABRSM Examinations, and would gladly teach piano at the beginner to intermediate level, or just as a leisure activity.

I was in Biology and Chemistry Raffles Academy in RGS and have participated in various science and math competitions. My niche subjects are Econs, Bio and Chem with extensive personal resources provided.

I have experience in/am currently tutoring O level Chemistry, Biology and Math, as well as A level Economics, Biology and Chemistry. I also offer CTs/Promos/Prelims Revision Crash Course with summary notes for JC students.
