Commitment / Other Details: Except for Tuesday nights, I am mostly free on all other weekdays.

Rapport Building: Usually I will find out the best way to get the student's attention and the best way a parent employs to discipline their child. This is so as to understand why the student behaves in that way. Additionally, this will provide me with an upperhand in knowing the student better and communicate casually with them before and after every session, as well as during a 5-minute break in between the session. I use this opportunity to know more of their hobbies and favourite subjects in school and why. This enables me to make the current subject I'm teaching as his/her favourite too, encouraging better learning.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: Because I have nieces and nephews in primary school, I am usually in the loop about the curriculum. Otherwise, I regularly visit bookstores and checkout TYS-es and assessment books to get a sense of the syllabus. In understanding current, stringent regulations or requirements of MOE, I will usually check with my fellow NIE peers.

As a Good Tutor: I think a good tutor is not one who pressurises her student into scoring straight As without totally comprehending and understanding the subject matter. A good tutor will not force her student to memorise data after data but not understanding it. In my opinion, effective teachers who have taught me best have engaged in this method : to make the student understand & internalise the subject matter, which calls for it to be logged at the back of their mind, making studying a breeze. Additionally, I will identify the student's learning method in the sense of being visual, textual, kinesthetic etc. In doing so, the student would not be bored in learning and also help them to learn efficiently, not just effectively. A good teacher is definitely one who is able to adapt well, and not one who imposes.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: I always refer to the most current syllabus and curriculum material distributed by MOE in accordance with the learning subject of the child. I have also close contact with many existing teachers. As a matter of fact, my wanting to know and understand more about the curriculum took me to take the masters in education in curriculum and teaching in NTU-NIE.

Tuition/Teaching Experience: I've 2 years of teaching experience, with students ranging from K1 to Secondary 4. I was also involved in peer tutoring groups to assist weaker students to brush up on their answering techniques and content knowledge.

I am very adept at picking out students' weaknesses and will target these areas to improve their strength in the subjects. Rapport Building: Parents are very important people in a childs life and I believe communication with them is vital. I like to make sure my children are able to max out their potential however, its more important to bond with them so that they will achieve under motivation and not pressure.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: I have been a tutor for 14 years and was a full time tutor for 10 years. Im still actively linked to the education system via friends and chatrooms. Giving classes in a tuition center also help in me keeping up with the curriculum.

As a Good Tutor: A good tutor should be a good mentor to his/her tutees. One should be able to build the bond and have a good rapport with the child. And one very important thing to note, parents leave their trust and their money to you.. make it worth their while.

The class will focus on going through ongoing topics covered by the school. Revision will be done if students have upcoming tests. Once we have completed the syllabus, other school exam papers will be distributed to the students so that they can be prepared for the mid-year and year-end examinations. All materials/worksheets will be provided. No additional fees for materials/worksheets.

Any referrals of new students entitle both you and the new student to 10% discount of your respective tuition fees for the first month.

Get 3 friends of the same level to register together with you for the same tuition time slot. It will entitle you and your 3 friends to 10% discount of your tuition fees for the first three months.
