Tuition Background

Tuition/Teaching Experience
I used to teach 3 students in the years 2012-2013, one P2, one P5 and one P6. For the P2 student, I taught him English, Maths and Chinese; for the P5 student, I taught her English and Maths while for the P6 student, I taught him English and Chinese and occasionally Maths.

I also used to volunteer at a Family Service Centre on a weekly basis as a peer tutor, and I did this for close to a year before quitting to focus on my A levels. I would take up to 2-3 primary school students (ranging from P1 to P6) at one time.

Personally, I like interacting with children and have more experience tutoring young students, hence I would prefer to tutor younger students :)

Commitment / Other Details
I have a rather flexible timetable in University so fret not if your child is unable to attend the stipulated slots due to unforeseen circumstances! I would prefer tutoring on weekends but weekdays are fine with me too. I am able to start anytime from now and will be able to commit to the tuition assignment up till the end of this year.

However, I will not be available from end-May to mid-June because of an overseas trip :)

As for the D grade you see in my 'General Paper' slot, it was an unfortunate accident due to exam jitters. Rest assured that I've taken the NUS Qualifying English Test (QET) and gotten the highest grade on my first try in November 2014.
Rapport Building
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I might be a little out-of-touch with the current curriculum because I attended primary school many years ago, but before tutoring your child, I will definitely read up more on it and get assessment books and textbooks from Popular.

Moreover, quite a few of my cousins are in primary school so I will borrow the books from them to keep up with the curriculum too :)
As a Good Tutor
I would say I'm quite patient and I do not mind repeating myself or explaining concepts several times, haha! I believe that understanding the core concept is one way to score well in examinations. I do not claim to know everything, but I will definitely try my best to work out a solution :)

One P5 student I've tutored before was actually diagnosed with ADD, and while I'm not saying I am definitely able to handle children with special needs, I will try my best to. Studying Psychology in University also gives me an edge :)

Also, I absolutely love pets so don't worry if you keep pets at home!

Science is not my best subject and hence I do not offer to teach Science. I used to be very good in Chinese when I was in primary and secondary school, but I have not touched Chinese since Secondary 4 and hence I would prefer to teach Chinese only for Primary 1 to Primary 3.
