I believe that it is important for teachers to know their students better, as i believe that this would help me understand their learning style better, and cater lessons just for them. As for the parents, i also believe that it is important to update them about their child's learning progress, so as to reassure them that their child is in good hands. If they have any feedbacks for me, i will also be open minded and improve by myself.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I buy all types of textbooks and assessment books from the bookstore, and cross reference them to keep up with the curriculum, and also to change up my lesson content.
As a Good Tutor
I believe that good tutors must be responsible for their student's well-being, making sure that they are in the right attitude to learn. They must also be encouraging, helping the students to push forward and improve even though their results might not be the best. Lastly, i believe that tutors must have a wide interest on the subjects that they are teaching. They must be extremely knowledgeable and is welcome to any questions regarding the subject that they are teaching.

      Having had a tuition teacher stick with me for 7 years, I wish to provide the same level of dedication and see students through tough times like major examinations to the best of my ability.

      I strongly believe that every student is different, and will take the time to understand them to better cater lessons for them. I hope to be seen not only as a teacher, but a friend that they feel comfortable with such that the lessons become more enjoyable and learning becomes something they actually want to do.       Keeping Up with Curriculum
      Before visiting a new student, I will take a trip to popular to browse textbooks of their education level to familiarize myself with the current curriculum. I may also flip through exam papers to identify what the examiner are looking for to efficiently teach students.

      To me the most important qualities of a good tutor are commitment and creativity. One must be committed, so that students are assured that when tough times come, you will be there to guide them through. You need to be dedicated, such that even when tutoring the toughest students you will continue to do your best. One must be creative, so that no matter what kind of student you get, you are able to adapt to his learning style and cater lessons for them. You must be able to think out of the box and find new, unorthodox ways to help students grow.

                I believe in instilling confidence in children through positive reinforcement. Most times, children just need to find the correct personal motivation to excel in school, so my approach will be to encourage and praise good behaviour and effort. Also, it is important to me that the parents are actively involved in their children's education - when I work with my tutee, I consider myself working with the parents as well. I feel that tuition is an opportunity for parents to bond with their children, and that keeping parents engaged in the experience makes for a great working relationship. So as a tuition teacher, I would prioritize communication with the parents, keep them up to date about their child's progress and discuss areas for improvement. I am an outgoing, outdoorsy extrovert, which makes rapport building come naturally!
                Keeping Up with Curriculum
                I am academically excellent, having aced my O levels at Cedar Girls' Secondary School with 8 distinctions (A1s in all math and science subjects). I also achieved As in A level H2 Chemistry and Math, with Bs in H2 General Paper, Biology and Economics at Hwa Chong Institution. Even though I may be new to tutoring school subjects, I am sure that I have the capacity to grasp what is needed and effectively guide my tutees. I will definitely do my homework as a tuition teacher by studying ten-year series, textbooks and assessment guides. Communication with my tutees will also help in keeping myself current with the curriculum.
                As a Good Tutor
                To me, a good tutor does not chase results with only the end in mind. I believe in helping my tutees gain true understanding of concepts being taught, rather than just pure rote-learning/memorization. A student only truly learns when they attain an independent grasp of knowledge, which is something that stays with them for life. Naturally, good grades will follow and be maintained.
                Every child is unique, so a good tutor would tailor his/her teaching style to cater to the tutee's specific needs, be it to push their grades above the pass mark or to get a perfect score. Therefore it is of outmost importance that a tutor is aware of such differences and adapts accordingly to provide optimal support to their tutees' academic journeys.
