Commitment / Other Details: As I specialize in exam preparation, I am prepared to commit to students until the conclusion of their exams (and beyond, if required).

Rapport Building: I believe in instilling confidence in children through positive reinforcement. Most times, children just need to find the correct personal motivation to excel in school, so my approach will be to encourage and praise good behaviour and effort. Also, it is important to me that the parents are actively involved in their children's education - when I work with my tutee, I consider myself working with the parents as well. I feel that tuition is an opportunity for parents to bond with their children, and that keeping parents engaged in the experience makes for a great working relationship. So as a tuition teacher, I would prioritize communication with the parents, keep them up to date about their child's progress and discuss areas for improvement. I am an outgoing, outdoorsy extrovert, which makes rapport building come naturally!

Keeping Up with Curriculum: I am academically excellent, having aced my O levels at Cedar Girls' Secondary School with 8 distinctions (A1s in all math and science subjects). I also achieved As in A level H2 Chemistry and Math, with Bs in H2 General Paper, Biology and Economics at Hwa Chong Institution. Even though I may be new to tutoring school subjects, I am sure that I have the capacity to grasp what is needed and effectively guide my tutees. I will definitely do my homework as a tuition teacher by studying ten-year series, textbooks and assessment guides. Communication with my tutees will also help in keeping myself current with the curriculum.

As a Good Tutor: To me, a good tutor does not chase results with only the end in mind. I believe in helping my tutees gain true understanding of concepts being taught, rather than just pure rote-learning/memorization. A student only truly learns when they attain an independent grasp of knowledge, which is something that stays with them for life. Naturally, good grades will follow and be maintained.
Every child is unique, so a good tutor would tailor his/her teaching style to cater to the tutee's specific needs, be it to push their grades above the pass mark or to get a perfect score. Therefore it is of outmost importance that a tutor is aware of such differences and adapts accordingly to provide optimal support to their tutees' academic journeys.
