I was doing relief teaching in Montfort Secondary School after my A-levels for 4 months so I have an idea how misbehaved current secondary school students can be. I was able to get them to listen to me in class after a while. I am able to interact with them as a 'senior' figure. I have also taught students with ADHD, dyslexia (Sec 2 NT).
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I am relatively caught up with the current math/amath syllabus because of this recent experience and my sister is also taking O-levels this year.
As a Good Tutor
I can say I am relatively patient and can make learning enjoyable. I keep in contact with my ex-students and some of them mention that my presence in their school made them more inspired to study harder. Even though this is in a school setting and not as a tutor setting, I have gained confidence that I am able to do the same, or even better when it comes to tutoring.

        With weaker students, I tend to focus more on writing drills, and break down the process of structuring arguments and arranging flow of points with strict formulas that can be followed and applied. Breaking down process makes the steps easier to follow, and ensures that students do not give up.

                I believe that it is important for teachers to know their students better, as i believe that this would help me understand their learning style better, and cater lessons just for them. As for the parents, i also believe that it is important to update them about their child's learning progress, so as to reassure them that their child is in good hands. If they have any feedbacks for me, i will also be open minded and improve by myself.

                I buy all types of textbooks and assessment books from the bookstore, and cross reference them to keep up with the curriculum, and also to change up my lesson content.
                As a Good Tutor
                I believe that good tutors must be responsible for their student's well-being, making sure that they are in the right attitude to learn. They must also be encouraging, helping the students to push forward and improve even though their results might not be the best. Lastly, i believe that tutors must have a wide interest on the subjects that they are teaching. They must be extremely knowledgeable and is welcome to any questions regarding the subject that they are teaching.
