I start with the basics, especially for students who are weak in foundation areas eg: grammar and Comprehension. I don't believe in giving the correct answers to students or simply marking their work. I explain why a certain word is used for a blank in cloze passages by pointing out the clues or inferences which can lead a student to come up with the right word.

Commitment / Other Details: I am able to start on private tuition asap, and will be able to commit for at least half a year. Group tuition will have to consult regarding availability of location.

Rapport Building: I tend to implement fun and social situations into teaching, especially in Mathematics. What I usually do is I will keep parents updated with their child's overall progress and hope to keep myself updated with the child's interests as well. This will aid me in utilising the child's newest obsession or interest into teaching.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: Annually, new revision books will be purchased, alongside with textbooks. This will ensure that I'm constantly teaching alongside with the syllabus, and allow the child to familiarise with their usual reading and sometimes, be one step ahead. I will also be checking on the latest past-year papers whenever it is available. This allows the child to practice as well for their tests and exams.

As a Good Tutor: Classroom management and the passion for children are definitely key. A good tutor needs to understand a child's point of view, and their proficiency, and speed in learning. Some children are adept in their academics, and some are not, which is exactly why they need guidance. Not only do we teach them academically, we are also important when it comes to building motivation, and their interest for learning. Despite being just a tutor to them, we can also encourage them and teach them to be less afraid of education.
