My strategy is to understand the students first and then find a suitable approach for each of them. Rapport Building: I start with asking students about their day in school, and find out about their interests and hobbies. Then I try to inspire them to learn Math related to their interests in future. For parents, I keep them updated as often as I can, about the students' progress, and the strengths and weaknesses of their children, and let parents know what to take note of and how to help the students achieve the best they can be in Math.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: For curriculum, I will keep my materials up to date by referring to the MOE syllabus and most of the times, I would teach the topics in advance. This will greatly help students to understand the topics to be taught in class faster, rather than to catch up much later which might be too late by the time the exams come.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: With regards to the English language in primary schools, I can keep up to date with the syllabus with my mother who is currently an English teacher in Holy Innocents Primary School. I am still in contact with some of my colleagues from CHIJ St Joseph's Convent and can request for more information about the curriculum from them. I still have my notes with me since secondary school (Geography and Science) and am willing to buy the latest textbooks and revision books from local bookstores.

As a Good Tutor: I think a good tutor is one who takes responsibility for his or her students' learning progress. Tuition is meant to give more help to weaker students that therefore I feel that a good tutor is one who is patient and determined that his or her student will understand their concepts well at the end of the day. Moreover, I feel that a good tutor should be consistent and more willing to give up her time when her students' examinations are nearing. He or she should also try to be encouraging and engaging when the student seems less motivated or tired.
