Tuition/Teaching Experience: As a native speaker I am in a good position to teach the many subtleties of English that can be required for IELTS (written debate, comprehension) or other examinations in order to enable study abroad.

I have recently completed the TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) course with i-to-i in London and there I've given lessons to students of various countries and skill levels.

The need to emphasise each of the language disciplines (speaking, reading, writing and listening) within each lesson in order to maximise the learning efficiency of each pupil is key for me.
My lesson plans would usually be a PPP format (Present - Practice - Production), this ensures a smooth transition in to drilling, practice and free production once a complete understanding has been observed.

Rapport Building: By giving them incentives like breaks in between lesson. In addition to break down a topic into smaller sub-topics so its easier for the child to absorb.

I would also use multimedia elements like videos to get the child interested in the subject and ask them where they want to go in the future (poly/jc) and what course they are interested to study in the future etc and share my experience with them.

As for parents, I would talk to them to find out more about their child, their strength and weakness and how fast the child would absorb concepts etc and regularly report the child progress to the parents and find out if the child has improve in their test/exam result etc.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: Buy 10 years series and textbook to read or borrow from others.

I have recently been a relief teacher for a secondary school so am still fresh with the curriculum.

As a Good Tutor: Commitment, responsibility, determination, hardworking, motivated, setting a good example for the child and being knowledgeable and most importantly patience with the child and able to explain concept clearly to them.

As I am currently pursuing a degree in Mathematics, I am constantly involved with A-Maths and E-Maths questions such as differentiation,integration or algebra questions. I understand the syllabus well especially for secondary school Mathematics. Topics such as mensuration, graphs, simple algebra, map scaling, etc for E-Maths, and differentiation, integration, integration, etc for A-Maths has been a constant throughout my tutoring experience and education( from sec school to polytechnic to university).

As a Good Tutor: I believe that being a good tutor has to be someone that is well discipline. Someone who is a well discipline tutor is someone that will be punctual, not constantly changing tuition times and focused on his role(not constantly using his phone or gadgets during lesson). A good tutor also has to be someone that has passion for teaching and help the student as much as possible.He should also not judge a student ability and demoralize the student. A good tutor must be patient, gentle with the student but also firm at the appropriate situation.

Tuition/Teaching Experience: I am currently teaching 2 students: 1 JC1 (chem and econs) and a sec3 in (chem and physics) for around a year.
My style of tutoring will be to point out to the students the key concepts at they have to take note of. Also I'll use mindmaps so that students will have a better understanding and linking chapters up to make sure students see the broader picture behind every subjects. I'll also make sure that they are able to at least answer every question in the Ten Year Series so they can cope with the national examinations with ease.
Apart from that, I encourage students to ask me questions when in doubt and I will also suggest the way that they can go about studying the subjects effectively and efficiently based on my own experiences.
