Tuition/Teaching Experience: I have taught a K2 boy phonics, english and mathematics before and it was a good experience teaching someone so young with short attention span. I have also taught a primary 1 boy mathematics. Through these, I have learnt different ways to capture the attention of the tutee, bring my point across in a simple manner, build rapport and how to gain the basic respect as a tutor from him/her. I am currently a year 4 Economics undergraduate at the National University of Singapore (NUS), and through the constant rigor of Singapore's university education, I have grown to realise the importance of strong fundamental knowledge and the dedication to learn new things. In addition, the rigors and demands of university life have also definitely molded me into a determined character who strives to give my best in every aspect of my life, despite setbacks along the way.

Rapport Building: Nothing makes me more elated than seeing academic improvements made by the child, and the sense of achievement and satisfaction that brings after tangible improvements are observed. Especially when we (Tutor and Tutee) struggle powerfully, improvements would no doubt be even sweeter.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: Finding out latest updates from fellow university mates who are also tutoring, as well as visiting bookstores to read the assessment books on related subjects to keep myself abreast of the curriculum.

I am well versed in Mandarin and love the language vey much, hence I would like to pass down my passion to the students as well. I belive that students can learn alot of things with regards to life principles through the language.

I have taught Primary 4 to 6 Chinese. My teaching method is that I will ask the students their strongest and weakest aspects with regards to the subject, and will hone their skills accordingly. I prefer to teach them the language by anaylsing the characters to them, sharing with students the stories derived from each of the Chinese character. This is so that they are able to remember the characters well without just purely memorising.

After that I would talk to the student and ask them what their strength and weakness are. What exactly is it that they need help with, and try to accommodate to their learning habits

Keeping Up with Curriculum: I will look through the current textbooks, workbooks and assessments books to see how the syllabus have been tweaked. And also look at SEAB website to see if there's any changes in the syllabus.

As a Good Tutor: I'm not just teaching the student a subject. I hold the responsibility of imparting important values to the students, as well as enable them to think of solutions to problems themselves. I would like to see my students to grow and develop to become good problem solvers, equipped with the relevant moral values to become an upright citizen in the society.
