, i have 4 years of teaching experience in top secondary schools and neighbourhood schools in Singapore so i believe i can meet the needs of diverse learners.     Teaching experience: I have been a tutor since I was studying in Singapore Poly. I prefer tutoring science as that was my course of study in Poly and is now in University. I have been tutoring O level students for the past few years and I guarantee improvement. It is also important that the students understand the concept of each topic and that is what I aim to achieve.

    Teaching style: I usually start with going through the school's notes and textbook topic by topic. After which i test them verbally. I also focus a lot on the TYS, both topical and papers by year. I also aim to complete the syllabus a month before exams. This will give the students ample time for revision.

            I am able to start from 16th April onwards. I am open to having group tuition if a student wishes to bring more friends in. The location of these group tuition can preferably be at one of the student's places. I am free from Tuesday to Saturday to have these tuition lessons at any time. I taught at my Alma mater, Victoria School after my A levels as a relief teacher for about 1 month. I taught the students English. My rates for Primary school is $20/hr and for Secondary school is $25/hr

            In my first lesson I usually get to know more about the student such as his interests and his hobbies and what he prefers to do during his free time. After that I tell the student more about myself so that the student may feel comfortable around me and this can make teaching alot easier. Before exams or tests I buy goodies for the student so that he/she is motivated to work harder and even during lessons i try to engage the student so that there is a conversation between the two of us and this can help to further enhance our relationship. This will make teaching alot easier.

            As for the parents, in my first lesson i introduce myself to them and tell them about my educational background and how I have taught my previous students. After every lesson I wish to inform the parents about what I went through with the student so that the parent has a better understanding of what the student is learning and about his progress. This is how I normally build rapport with the students and the parents.
            Keeping Up with Curriculum
            I usually buy textbooks and read through them and try out the questions in them to keep up to date with the curriculum. Before the start of a lesson I would revise through the chapter that I wish to go through with the student so that I will be able to teach better. In addition to that I also try out sample questions online with the new syllabus so that I am familiar with what is being taught in school.
            As a Good Tutor
            A good tutor should firstly be well read and updated with the curriculum. This is so that he is able to answer the queries from the student to the best of his ability. The tutor should also be able to craft his own questions to the student and if possible more challenging ones so that the student will be better prepared during exams. The tutor must be able to communicate freely with the student so that the student will feel more comfortable with the tutor and this can facilitate a greater understanding between the two of them and hence promote better learning. One should also be patient with the student as not every student will be able to understand concepts quickly and hence the tutor must know to pace himself when teaching different students.
