    Communication with students is important. I always want to understand my students better and listen to their point of view, the difficulties they face being a student, as well as their aspirations and dreams. Wherever possible, I'll offer my advice and suggestions for improvements for their consideration. I am friendly but yet firm with my students and I treat all my dealings with students with sincerity, which I believe makes a difference in the quality of the relationship between us. Students are able to tell when a teacher is genuine and truly mean well for them.
    As for working with parents, I think it is important to keep them updated about their child's performance. At the same time, I also feel that I'm acting like a "bridge" between the parents and child since most teenagers nowadays usually do not share much of their daily lives with their parents.

      I have about five years of experience in tutoring primary levels. I am very familiar in working with upper primary levels and have been able to improve students from fail/ borderline passes to A and A* for PSLE. I vary my approach according to the student's personality - for students who are more reserved, I am more patient and encouraging whereas for students who are more active or mischievous, I am strict and would discipline them accordingly.
