I usually teacher a chapter or two in advance so the student is prepared for school.

As a Good Tutor: The hallmark of a good teacher is being able to adapt the lessons to meet the needs of the weakest student. We also need to keep material fresh, with prior research and evolving reference material. Everybody has the right to learn at their own pace, and one must tailor the approach accordingly. The needs of the student come first.

Commitment / Other Details: Currently i am studying in SMU Business. I have just entered this year and thus i will be able to tuition part time only. Other than this, i do not have much other commitments.

Rapport Building: I am able to get along well with children as i sincerely like children. Hence other than teaching them academically only, i aim to build a friendship with them as well, so that we can be comfortable around one another, and the children will not feel shy to ask questions, and hopefully look forward to tuition sessions. Also i try to keep the parents updated about their children learning by talking to them at least once a month.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: I am updated with the curriculum as currently i had just completed teaching a primary school child. Additionally, my younger sister is in secondary school and this allows me to keep myself updated with the syllabus as i help her with her work. Also, as a tuition teacher i believe it is only fair for me to be updated about the curriculum to be able to provide the best teaching to my tutee.

As a Good Tutor: I have taught 3 Children previously over the course of my 1.5 tuition experience. All my 3 tutees had seen an overall improvement in their results. While i aspire to allow my tutee to enjoy lessons with me, i am also strict in my teaching and my homework. Usually i give relevant assignments after each lessons, in order to ensure that they truly understand what i had taught them so far. As a tutor, i also feel that it is of utmost importance to feel a sense of responsibility towards the tutee, only then will i be able to put in my best effort in my teaching
