Rapport Building: I will spend a little time during tuition to understand them better and what are their needs and weaknesses. Then I will observe during lessons on their behaviour and character, to better aid them not just in academics but help to inculcate values in them to. This is to help them better themselves not just in studies but as a person too. I hope that the students I teach are the ones that can open up to me, only then I can help them do their best and know their needs.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: I will go to bookstores to refer to textbooks and Ensure that the students keep me updated every lesson. For every chapter that they learn, I will also consult Teachers that i know that are teaching in primary school on some things to take note. But most of the times I would be keeping up with the pace according to what the students update me on. Any queries I would compile them and ask my student to check with their form Teachers so that I can accurately follow the pace and aid them in their studies.

As a Good Tutor: Patient and positive attitude. We must stay positive so that we can encourage our students to do better. Sense of security and dependable, only then students will feel safe and have a good learning environment. Most importantly, the mindset of teaching the students well. As tutor, morally I feel that there's a need to Ensure that I teach what I can to the students and make sure they learn. I would not want to teach for the sake of teaching and leave after takin the pay. As a student, I understand the need of external help and because of that, I believe that a tutor should not be someone who thinks that as Long as I teach them already, whether they learn or not is their business. This is morally wrong and I would definitely not do that. As a tutor, I do my best and teach with my heart.

As a Good Tutor: Hello! I am Uyanga from Mongolia. It has been 3 months since I came in Singapore. I study at S P Jain Global Management School as business administration with 95% scholarship. In Mongolia, I used to tutor TOEFL, specifically writing part and SAT for high school students. Because, I have taken TOEFL three times and got 100 in which my writing was quite high, 28/30. After that, a lot of students asked me advice how to get better score and I first started them teaching my writing strategy, use of punctuation, paragraph structure etc. The one student I taught got 25 which was her target score on writing after 2 months of practice with me. It definitely depends on her hard work but also I taught her few strategies that I myself use that not many people fail to see. The first time I took TOEFL, I got 22 on writing. And only month after, I improved my score. Moreover, I can teach SAT reading and writing part, in which I take and got 1350 score in January 2017. I taught one student SAT reading in July 2017. Moreover, I think I can teach creative writing and basic English to primary-level and pre-school children as I have passion to work with kids and motivate others. I would love to do beyond my duty. As for tennis, I have been playing tennis for 8 years although I did not have chance to play regularly last 2 years. I was in Mongolian national team and got National Champion. Tennis is basically part of my life. I can coach beginners.

Rapport Building: I will speak to the parents to understand where is the child's weakest area. Next, I will clarify with the student to have a better understanding of what are the topics they face difficulties in before explaining to them and ensuring they have an understanding. I would assign homework to test their understanding before moving on to cover other topics. I will also indicate in a book what are the homework assigned to the student so the parents will be able to track. Importantly, I will always feedback to the parents for example, the student has not been doing the homework or the negative behaviour shown during lesson.

Also, I will also ensure they get to practice at least 5 different school past year papers to have a taste of what other school standards are like.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: I will always read from the MOE website to know the latest updates.

As a Good Tutor: Having patience towards the student is key in order for the student to excel. As different students have different level of understanding of the method I adopt in explaining. Therefore, I need to always constantly find different ways to teach them in order they fully understand the topic and knowing how to tackle questions pertaining to the topic.

Also, I think that as a tutor, you got to be clear as to what you are teaching to avoid confusion for myself and for the student as well. Hence it is always important to know what topic you will be covering the next lesson so at least you know what are some of the highlights or typical type of questions of the topics that would be tested in examinations.

As a Good Tutor: To not just teach how to pass the next exam, but to establish a good foundation for the subject such that the student will be able to excel at the subject on his own, based on true understanding and not just exam tricks or formulas or whatever. I think a tutor has really succeeded when the student no longer needs him anymore but is able to tackle any new topic that comes along on his own based on his good grasp of the fundamentals of the subject.
