Math has always been my strongest subject and i have gotten consistent As, from A star in PSLE to A1 in both Emath and Amath in sec sch and A for A levels. Currently i am a relief teacher in a secondary school and is also a part time tutor. I have about a year of experience teaching primary school and secondary school students. When i was in jc1, i taught about 5 students as an assistant tutor for half a year. Currently, i am teaching a primary 6 student and has been doing so for about half a year. Her grades improved from C to A after just a short few lessons on math. Since math is a subject that requires a lot of practise, after going through a summary of the topics, i let her do questions and practise papers. I also look for questions on topics that she is particularly weak in and push her before the exams.

Rapport Building: When I first start any tuition assignment, I make the effort to learn about the student's general attitude and outlook on studies. This is important because it allows me to gauge my response and teaching method. Every student is different and tuition is beyond just teaching a subject. Its about understanding what is the best way to unlock the potential within the child and continue to help guide and teach the child on how to learn and apply the knowledge that they have gained. Something that they can use and apply even after the tuition is over.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: With the ease and availability of the internet, I just have to do a simple google search or go to the local popular store to read up and prepare prior to a tuition assignment. Like I mentioned earlier, I have developed my skills in learning things fast and efficiently and I would be more than willing to share it with my future students.

As a Good Tutor: There are 5 basic qualities I personally feel that a good tutor should have:

1. Resourceful - A tutor that is resourceful enough to find materials and have ample supply of relevant information prepared and ready for the tutee before class.

2. Honest - A tutor that can be trusted.

3. Reliable - A tutor that won't just flake from a tuition session and a tutor that you know you can count on to be there for help when the child is undergoing exam period and the school teachers are swamped with child's requests.

4. Friendly - A tutor that is able to relate to both the student and the parent in order to make the best out of the tuition session

5. Good time management skills - A tutor that can schedule his/her time well before/during/after a lesson so to ensure that the student gets the best from every session
