Rapport Building: I give my number to my students so that they can contact me via whatsapp should they have any questions especially leading up to their exams/tests (do send pictures as well!). Students should feel free to arrange any last minute additional classes with me should they have any questions or want additional practise. Would be more than happy to keep in contact with parents to update them on their child's progress as well.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: I have siblings, cousins and friends from top secondary and junior colleges (Hwa Chong Institution, Raffles, St nicholas etc) and would ask for their school material to collate a comprehensive list of questions and notes given to the students. I myself have graduate from HCI a few years ago and would I am still in touch with the curriculum.

As a Good Tutor: I think the basic qualities of a good teacher is commitment, responsibility and knowledge of the subject matter. As tutors, we may not always have the solutions to all the questions. Should we have a problem which we are uncertain about, we need to take the responsibility to find out for our students and respond to them promptly and not simply brush off the question or given a vague reply. Extensive reading to self improve is also important so as to be able to stretch the student. Being patient and flexible in altering the class to best fit the student's learning is also critical.

Rapport Building: As a former homeschooler who has made it all the way to NUS, I believe in motivating the students to learn and develop their interest in the subjects they are learning. When the students are motivated and interested, they will naturally learn. This can be encouraged through the use of healthy incentives and support and encouragement from the tutor.

Healthy rapport with the parents is also important, as parents are important facilitators in the child's learning. Expectations should be discussed and realistic goals should be set in consultation with the student.

I also believe discipline and hard work is immensely important to the success of the student.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: As a current undergraduate at National University of Singapore, pursuing History as a scholar on the Ong Chit Chung Memorial Scholarship, I am acquainted with the professors who are involved in developing the national education syllabus and it is a privilege to study under them.

I have also done very well in their classes. Though I was homeschooled, In terms of national education and history, I have done much further reading and have kept up to date with current events as well the national curriculum. In terms of English, I am highly proficient, scoring A+ grades for my academic writing (top 3% of the NUS cohort) and have done extremely well on my graded assignments as well as recent examinations.

As a Good Tutor: I believe a good tutor should be patient and have the best interests of the student at heart. I believe that the tutor should also be able to plan out concrete steps for the student to improve and plan with the student on the goals to be achieved. I would not mind giving a free/discounted lesson or two to try out as the student would need to be comfortable with the tutor and I would also like to get acquainted with the student so I can better tailor the learning style to suit the child and also communicate my plans with the parents.
