As a Good Tutor
I think that it is important for a good tutor to be patient and friendly. By being friendly, you will come off as approachable and therefore students will be more willing to share their concerns and ask questions. I think many students turn to tuition because school teachers are unable to give equal attention to all students and sometimes they tend to come off as fierce and unapproachable.

A tutor should also be willing to answer student's queries via whats app especially during exam period.

      I always spend the first part of the class speaking to the students and trying to understand how their week went. Building this connection is important because this gives them confidence to share whatever they want and that means being comfortable with making mistakes which is an important part of the learning process. In understanding their lives I can better suit the content to apply it to what they are facing so they can see how learning the subjects in school is so important for them.

      My students whom I have been teaching English have feedbacked that they gained confidence in speaking english in the workplace and saw themselves improving, the younger children also mentioned they were motivated to learn better.             I can teach on weekdays after 7pm and on weekends the whole day. I can teach for minimum 2 years as I have time to spare even if my university term starts as I will not be staying in hall.

I will also discuss the best possible rates for the parents and student, especially if they are not well to do. I do not expect a high rate as I am teaching so as to improve myself as well, especially in terms of my social and communication skills.

            To keep up with curriculum, I revise new textbooks given to me by my two other students and read through their practise papers. When I have the time, I try out some questions from practice papers as well.
            As a Good Tutor
            I am a 19 year old male, currently serving National Service. I have attended Canberra Primary School, Catholic High School and eventually National Junior College. For my grades, I have scored 7 A2s and 3 A1s in my O Level Examinations, 4 As and a B (General Paper) in my A Level examinations. I prefer teaching based on the student's strength and style of learning. I strongly believe in using role play in my lessons, where the students will switch roles with me and become the teacher instead to teach me what he or she has learnt in the lesson. I also prefer testing the student regularly, prompting the student to answer questions as I believe this can help him or her adapt to a stressful situation similar to the environment during an examination. In addition, I believe it is important to teach the student on ways to apply what they have learnt from me to answer questions in examinations. I may be inexperienced as I have only started teaching 2 students for half a month but I firmly believe that I have the confidence to help a student improve.

                  With parents, within the first few lessons, I will have a brief discussion with the parents on what are their concerns and expectation for the child and from the tuition such as is the tution inclusive of handling school work for the day and any school assignments. Subsequently, we will discuss on the pace and the child workload to establish the parent's concerns over both physical and emotional balance of the child. This will help me understand the child better as well.
                  With the child, there's a need to set down 2 rules -- first rule is share his thoughts especially if he has concerns. We will share personal views on his sharings or work out a solution to ease his concerns. This will take time. The child's trust in the tutor can help him gain confidence as well.

                  I have 2 children currently studying at primary school level. In addition, I have teaching Primary School syllabus since the 1990s. There's also Google and an abundance of information in the bookstore.

                  I believe a good tutor is one who can help to identify a child's stength and weakness. In idenitfying the strengths and weaknesses, the tutor will find a balance solution to the child's learning progress. Not all children are learn the same way. A good tutor knows how the find a balance methodology and approach to help the child achieve his goals both in studies and in developing his interests.
