      Rapport Building
Apart from teaching my students well, I show concern and interest in their lives by discussing on matters beyond the books.
With the students, I talk about their interests and aspirations; likes and dislikes; current trends and topics; fun and challenges they meet in school or at home, matters that motivate or discourage them, encourage them to communicate the difficulties they encounter with their learning, etc.
With younger learners, I reward them with little gifts of encouragement, celebrate their birthdays taking them out (with their parents' consent).

With their parents, if they 'allow', I politely ask about their day and communicate as appropriate on challenges they may have with their children or even at work and offer advice and my perspective, hoping they can help. I often provide them feedback on their child's progress and how they can support them in their learning and development.
      Keeping Up with Curriculum
I take reference from MOE websites on changes and updates.
I 'study' assessment books and refer to students' textbooks and school written work.
I attend parents' workshops and google and read online.
      As a Good Tutor
      A good tutor ...
      1. understands the learner
What motivates them, what are their strengths (how they learn); what are their learning difficulties.
      2. is able to identify learners' area of weaknesses in their subject matter
      - to enable effective teaching
      3. can effectively teach which makes learners understand
      3. is patient and fun
      4. establishes good rapport with students
      5. is concerned with their progress and lives

My strength in teaching and tutoring...
During my teaching in MOE schools, I was given level head positions and have learned diagnostic skills to effectively teach my weaker students in Math and English.
As a tutor, I believe in effective teaching, adopting diagnostic skills to identify students' weaknesses and coaching them with self-designed materials to allow better improvement.
In my years of teaching and tutoring, I was able to assist failing and weak students to a 70 marks score range.

        Rapport Building
Generally after every few lessons I provide an update to parent's on the progress
Most students who are having problems usually lack their basic foundations.
Hence most of the work will focus on them building their basics skills before attempting their current curriculum if they are far behind.
I'll engage the students by introducing them some puzzles to improve their IQ as well as their problem solving skills. This will keep them interested and encourage them to learn more on their own to improve.
Lastly I'll work together with the parents to ensure the students accomplish their given tasks each week so that they will be up-to-date with the current schedule, to ensure they have the discipline to improve and never stop learning.
        Keeping Up with Curriculum
Coming from a family of tutors, I have access to most of the study materials as well as the current school curriculum and assignments. I'm also able to come up with questions related to the curriculum even if the student does not happen to have their assessment books or homework with them.
        As a Good Tutor
A good tutor is someone who is able to be patient with the student and help them to develop their potential. I am of the belief that the brain can be developed with the right mindset, and it is the duty of a mentor and tutor to equip students with the right mindset so that they will be mentally prepared for hardship and have the disciplined to do the task given to them.

Able to start immediately and will commit for as long as the parents require. Full attention is given to my students and will be active in updating parents of the progress.
                Rapport Building
Strong personal track record in professional career; 3-years' as investment analyst before leaving to start business. I have a strong work ethic and share the importance of this with my students as well. I work well with people and can easily connect with my students despite the age gap because I can empathize with the difficulties they face. Life only gets harder, not easier. Tough situations do not last; Tough people do.

Many students that face difficulty in school may face the fear that they cannot do well because of the difficulty. When results during tests/exams are bad, this creates a negative feedback loop which further demoralizes the student. My lessons will have practices for students that helps them experience 'wins' to remove the fear of a subject. This breaks the negative feedback cycle and helps student strive for more and more 'wins'.

I will update parents on their child's progress, and will help them identify areas on improvement (i.e. time management/carelessness), and how to address these issues. I will also be easily contactable on my phone should there be a need.
                Keeping Up with Curriculum
I have an excel sheet that tracks the types of questions tested in O/A level papers to spot topics and how to optimize studying for topics.

Have the latest curriculum that is being tested. This is not a concern.
                As a Good Tutor
Grades up till the completion of JC/Poly is important. My aim as a tutor is to help students get the grades required to get into their target schools. At the same time, personal development/mindset is crucial for continued success.

I am a firm believer that an educator has the responsibility to develop both the hard and soft skills of students. However, schools may face difficulty with the combination of the above due to the large class size. This is where good tutors can shine in giving the students undivided attention to help them in developing themselves as individuals.

                  Rapport Building
I am patient, friendly and approachable. As a young tutor and a recently graduated student, I can understand the challenges and difficulties faced by students and will adjust my teaching style to suit individual needs. In the first lesson, I usually try to get to know my student and how he/she is doing in school. I never scold my students and will provide encouragement and support to help them learn better.
                  Keeping Up with Curriculum
I have just finished A Levels so I am familiar with the latest syllabus. I was from the Integrated Programme (IP) and Express stream but I have also taught Normal (Academic) students.
                  As a Good Tutor
I can provide practice questions from top schools, topical revision worksheets, practice papers, summary notes and other materials. I can provide personalised and one-on-one tutoring to cater to the needs of each individual student. I am flexible and open to any feedback.

As a hardworking individual, I always strive to outdo myself and would like to help my students do the same. My teaching philosophy is to engage my students and make them active learners. Instead of feeding them information, I will ask them questions and get them to think and practise. I can also help them with study tips and time management strategies from my personal experience.

Generally when teaching, I would like students to be inquisitive and proactive in their learning. It would be best if student is prepared with questions about the topics or subjects he/she is unclear of, or school work that he or she is unsure of. I will provide some samples that have mistakes in them and students need to identify the mistakes. Then through assessment books, student will be exposed to the same type of questions. For me, it is also compulsory for student to attempt other school papers to build up their novel questions bank as well as to increase their exposure to different types of questions. For Maths, I will have some methods that might be different but they are easy to understand. For subjects like Science, Biology and Chemistry, there are certain ways to answer the questions and I will share the templates with them. Additionally, I will reiterate some common mistakes that people make during examinations. It is also compulsory for the student to complete the assigned work on time so that their progress can be tracked easily. Although learning can be tough, if student is willing to put in effort in their studies, I believe that they can achieve their desired grades!
