Rapport Building: During my time as a student care mentor, I frequently motivated the children by rewarding them with sports activities when they achieved certain daily milestones such as completion of school homework and one additional assessment exercise. I also organised and led trips to Sentosa and Snow City during the school holidays to enable learning outside of the classroom.

When parents came to pick up their children, I frequently provided key updates on their child's progress and gathered feedback from the parents on what motivates their child the most.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: I consult the latest textbooks and other guidebooks to ensure I am aware of the standard of answers that is expected in exams. Otherwise, I have consulted counsellors on how best to engage students and impart complex concepts in simple bite-size information.

As a Good Tutor: Basic qualities of any tutor is the ability to listen to the students and parents. Tutors need to understand questions from students before they can effectively communicate the right information in a targeted manner. Parents will also find it simpler to communicate their goals with the tutor who may then develop the right study plan for the student.

Keeping Up with Curriculum

As a Good Tutor: In recent years, my specialisation lies in upper secondary Mathematics and Sciences. Students under my care all show a significant improvement in their result after a reasonable number of lessons. Examples of my track record, with due credit to my students, include helping a Secondary 4 Express student from Jurong obtained an A2 grade in the GCE O-Level Elementary Mathematics from his usual D7 grades within 5 months of guidance in 2017 and assisting a Secondary 4 Express student from Hua Yi maintain her position as the first in level for Science during her four years with me.

The majority of my current students had scored between A1 to B4 during the recent Final-Year Examination 2019. They include those from top schools such as Cedar Girls, River Valley, and Nan Hua, as well as those from neighbourhood schools such as St Margaret, Commonwealth, and Juying. Students from non-mainstream schools such as Singapore Sports School and Sanyu Adventist School are also under my care this year.

All in all, with substantial efforts from the students themselves to follow through my guidance, I am confident to deliver result :)
