    I had taught in a primary school for several years before leaving the service in 2011 and has since been a full-time home tutor. I specialise in teaching Primary English and Mathematics.I have been trained in STELLAR as well as Holistic Assessment. In 2009, I was also nominated for the Inspiring English Teacher Award.     I do use some assessment books during tuition. In addition, I will print other relevant materials for the child whenever necessary, for instance, news articles and stories, to stimulate composition writing ideas.

    I believe that tuition is not a miracle, but it can help a child develop some discipline in the process and expose themselves to other learning materials that they may otherwise not see in school. I stress again that parents should set realistic expectations of their children and that they should strive for a balance for the child's learning. Although grades are important, but the joy of learning should be equally important. Thank you.

      A good tutor should also allow the student to explore their own interests in the subject, even if it is not in the syllabus. This can give students make meaning of the subject in their own ways. Through the student's interests, the tutor can link the concepts back to the syllabus.

              Hi! I'm an alumnus of Raffles Institution (IP Programme) who joined top Science stream classes in secondary school and JC and scored 90 RP at A Levels.

              Throughout JC, I have tutored 12 students from various schools between Secondary 4 to JC2 in a wide variety of subjects, including Math, Biology, and Chemistry. They have all shown great improvement under my tutelage, jumping multiple grade bands in the span of a few months. One student who scored a D in H2 Chemistry during JC1 sought my help in JC2 and ended up scoring an A at A Levels.

              I emphasise building a solid foundational understanding of difficult subjects so that students can avoid simple conceptual errors and ensure that knowledge from difficult topics can be easily built on top of a solid knowledge base. A competent understanding of core concepts is what allows students to be able to tackle higher order thinking questions, and allows for subsequent progressions in subject mastery to be easily achieved.
