Currently, I am available on most weekdays as I am waiting for A level results to be released in February and for university to commence in August. I am quite flexible with my timings and locations.
Rapport Building
I am a rather approachable person and I like to meet and talk to new people to get to know them. Students should feel safe in the presence of their tutor and can trust the tutor. If students trust their tutor, they will be willing to articulate their struggles more clearly and this helps the tutor to pin-point where the issue lies and address it quickly. Of course, it takes time for the student and tutor to get to know each other and build trust and this is a process that cannot be forced by the tutor, the tutor must be patient and let the student open up to them when the student feels comfortable.

I also believe that communicating with the parents is essential so that the tutor is aware of the needs of the parent and what outcome they hope to achieve from the tuition. Parents are usually curious on the academic performance or attitude of their child and will ask the tutor 'How is my child doing in school? How was the lesson today? Has my child made any progress?' As a tutor, we have the necessary expertise to answer the parent's questions with honesty such that there is a sense of mutual understanding and trust between parents and tutors.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I will look at the SEAB website for the learning outcomes of the subjects, so that I know exactly what my students are supposed to know. I will also look at the Ten Year Series questions to identify new question types. I also have friends who are studying in Junior College and I can ask them about changes in the syllabus.
As a Good Tutor
A good tutor will rekindle hope in discouraged students. It can be very stressful and demoralising when students work hard but fail to obtain the results they desire and they lose motivation. However, with the right tutor, the student can learn more effectively and improve. I do not believe in 'good' or 'bad' teachers and students but rather, it is a matter where the teacher's teaching style and student's learning style do not match then the tuition leaves much to be desired for both teacher and student. As a good tutor, you must be able to analyse the personality of the student, what are their strengths and weaknesses and tailor your teaching approach accordingly to cater to the learning style of the student.

A student should feel comfortable in the presence of the tutor, the student cannot learn well if it is done in fear of punishments or harsh scoldings from the tutor. However, the tutor must also be respected by the student such that the student listens intently to the tutor and obeys the tutor's instructions. I intend to achieve this with my students by being friendly and approachable but firm with them when I need to be.

          I'll always check with parents about the students study behaviours and the student's past results to undertand them better, as well as talk to the student about their weaker subjects and areas to work on so as to focus on those.               I am able to start from 26/03/2022 onwards, I am supposed to enlist this year but have yet to receive my enlistment notice. When I do I will have 2 months buffer time to wrap everything up.

              I am a CCA leader and an assistant coach, I have encountered many situations where I have to speak to different individuals be it to comfort them, or to provide instructions. All of which I have done exceedingly well, for me to be able to attain a merit award for my CCA and a 3 years Scholar student.

              I have a brother currently in sec 3 as well as a cousin who is in primary 1. I have been taking a look at their notes as well as their learning materials. In fact, I have even taught and revised with them, a few weeks before the exams. Therefore I feel I am not totally unsure of the current curriculum.

              I feel as a good tutor, it is not just about teaching my students how to do it. But instead how to appreciate it. I want to inspire my students to be able to understand and love the subject. I want them to treat the subject like "common sense".
