Rapport Building: I usually spend the first lesson getting to know my students a bit better. I will spend the time in the lesson going through a subject that the student has had difficulty with in the past. I am then able to guage the strengths and weaknesses of the student. I will then have a discussion with the parents to inform them of my strategy in helping the student.

Throughout the course of the lessons I will give the parents regular updates on the progress of the student. I will also keep them updated on any homework assignments I may provide. I believe that building the confidence of the students is the key to helping them achieve better grades.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: I will form a schedule for the students to make sure that they are able to complete the subjects required for their exams. I will regularly check with my student what they have learnt in school for the week and make sure that I am on pace with the syllabus. I will often move ahead of the pace of the classes in school so as to allow more time for topics the student is having difficulty with. I believe in a structured lesson with sufficient practice and application are the keys to improvement.

As a Good Tutor: I think the most important traits for a tutor are patience and an ability to build trust with their students. The tutor needs to be patient so as to allow the student to learn at a pace comfortable with him without discouraging him. Rapport building is important as a student who does not look forward to his lessons with his tutor would feel less interested in learning.

can commit only during mondays to saturdays. sundays for family. not everyday i can take in students as i have other commitments as well - bring my father for doctor's appointment in Oct, few times in Nov 2013, etc.

Rapport Building: i am someone who will give disciplinary action if needed / necessary. students best is to come to tutor's home for tuition so that they can have better attention. i accept group tuition as well - better as can teach few students at the same time.

i mingle around with chidren quite a bit as i like children even though i have a daughter but she is already in her teens-15 yr old. quite tough to talk to her at times as she tend to have her own ideas and thinking.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: i have read the curriculum from my daughter's tutorial assessment books before and so know what is going around in the kindergarten and lower primary schools. different schools have different style of learning and teaching but still using same curriculum. saw in my neighbours' school books.

As a Good Tutor: need to have patience, love and care to the child in any sense. growth, lifestyle, family background, school curriculum, etc. social ettiquette can also be taught a little during tuition sessions. knowledge is part and parcel of life. need to impart to students what are the things in life to know and to learn.
