    I will normally go through the student's everyday school works and tests to understand where the student stands. After which I would ask the student to introduce himself/herself. I will speak to the parents after every lesson to also update them on the child's progress. At times, if I realize the student is having some problems, be it education related or not, I will offer my assistance/ advice to the student. During non tuition hours, I will also just call in to the parents to ask if the child is studying properly. Finally I will allow the student to call me any time if there is queries regarding the subjects I am teaching.
    Keeping Up with Curriculum
    I will always go through the school homework, tests and exams. I will also check online for relevant materials. Consulting tuition agencies would also be another way to keep myself updated.
    As a Good Tutor
    Understanding the student is the most important and basic quality. A tutor needs to know what the student needs. That is when a tutor can focus correctly and not waste time on things that is not a problem for the student. Other qualities like patience, innovative and motivations are also important.

    I have one year of experience in teaching upper primary math, and 3 years of experience in sec school math.

    The P4 improve his grade from borderline failure to A this year at his EOY exam. Another P6 student showed a great improvement in her algebra as she was always being refered as the weakest in her class, until lately during her Prelim she was the only student at her level able to answer all the algebra question correctly.

    I wish to commit myself as a Full Time tutor from 2014 as I am very passionate in teaching the students and helping them to improve on their understanding towards Math and their grades as well. It gives me a great sense of acheivement and satisfaction when I see my students improve.

    I am able to commit 100% on my tuition assignment for the whole year since I wish to be a full time tutor..

    My rates are 30/hr for lower secondary and 35/hr for upper secondary.

    I always talk to my students and make them feel that I am their friend more than a teacher in order to make them feel very comfortable with me. I am also very passionate in my teaching, as I show great care and concern for my students as much as possible so that they can appreciate it from the bottom of their heart and work hard themselves as well.

    As for the parents, at times I do talk to them and update on the progress of their kids attitude and improvement. I understand that parents are busy themselves working, so i do my best to keep them updated on their kids progress so as to keep them less worried and more confident of their own child.
    Keeping Up with Curriculum
    Although i have only one year experience in tutoring, I do search the Internet, read the news on the education system and also talked to a few of my friends who are MOE teachers and experienced full time tutors to keep myself updated on the curriculum.
    As a Good Tutor
    Passion and patience t are the basic qualities of a good tutor. With passion, a good tutor will put in more effort to help their students improve their grades and hence a greater sense of achievement. With patience, a good tutor will be able to find out the weaknesses of their students and guide them progressively into improving their grades. With these 2 qualities, a good tutor will be able to commit themselves to improve their students grades, and not just teach for the sake of income.
