Commitment / Other Details: I can start as soon as possible and even commit during weekends. How ever when Uni starts in August 2014, I can still commit if the tuition timing doesn't clash with my school timing.
I can hold group tuition sessions, but I prefer one-to-one so that i can keep track of my student's academic progress and this allows me to focus more on my student.

Rapport Building: I will always keep track of my students' studies (e.g. through class tests, school exams) and also keep in contact with the parents to find out how my students are coping. I will also understand that students may be exhausted after school and may not pay full attention during lessons. For this, i will remind students and allow them to take short toilet breaks or have snacks to keep them awake.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: Dance is my passion and a significant part of my life. However I am aware of the importance of my studies as well. In primary and secondary school, I took up ballet classes in Malaysia at my own time. Apart from this, I was the vice-chairperson of my Chinese Dance club in Secondary school. Nevertheless, all these Co-curricular commitments are never an excuse for me to not do well in my studies. If I fail to understand certain concepts, I will spend more time on these poorer subjects and constantly attend consultations to clear my doubts. As shown above, I am able to manage my time well and make sure that i dont neglect my studies when pursuing my interest.

As a Good Tutor: I believe that tutors are the ones who provide additional and extra help for the students to improve on their studies. Tuition is an platform for students to clarify their doubts on certain academic concepts outside school time. A good tutor must have the basic qualities such as patience, resilience and determination to achieve the above. For me, I am flexible in my teaching method as i will teach according to students' learning speed and style.

Rapport Building: I am able to communicate well with others. As a friendly and polite person, I do not have difficulty talking with students or parents. I am also a good listener. I understand it is hard for students for cope with all their commitments, to balance between family, studies, CCA and social life. I can lend my student my listening and understanding ears, no judgement, and provide them with advices as I have been there, done that. I also can act as a bridge to connect students and parents, to help the parents understand their children's problems, and help the children understand their parents' expectations and concerns for them.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: I do my own research through MOE and SEAB websites to keep myself updated with the syllabus. I also keep in touch with my previous teachers, visit their blogs regularly to update myself with the subject content. I usually review examination papers to see how the format and focus of the paper change every year. Of course, I also review my students' school materials to have a better idea of what they are taught at school and help them build on that.

As a Good Tutor: To me, there are three basic qualities of a good tutor. Firstly, a tutor must understand his students well. He must know what level the student is at, the student's learning pace, his strengths and weaknesses, what are the studying methods that work for him and what does not. A tutor must also understand his student's problems at school and family, so that instead of adding more pressure to the student, the tutor can lift some off.

Secondly, a good tutor must be very strong in the subject he is teaching. This is simple as it is, a tutor is only good if he can help his student improve, and this is only possible if the tutor knows his stuff well. Sometimes, even the tutor may have doubt. If so, the tutor need to do his own research to make sure he does not teach the student the wrong thing. There is no shame in double checking facts.

Thirdly, a good tutor must never be assuming. Never assume his student already knows something and skip that point. After explaining a concept, never assume the student already understands it, even if he says so. Instead, the tutor must double check by asking questions to ensure the student really has grasped the concept well.
