Passive in the sense when my students provide me with further insight on special ways that a subject matter is being delivered. I would then tailor the approach to fit each tutee's understanding ability.

Commitment / Other Details: First, I identify my students' weaknesses. Then, I identify the conceptual errors and through thorough revision and explanation, help to clear these misunderstandings. With confidence in even the weakest topics, good grades will easily be within reach. After all, as the adage goes, one can only be as strong as your weakest link. Once this has been done, I will reinforce important concepts and do revision, as well as introduce new materials so my students will have a deeper understanding of topics before they have been taught. This approach has helped some of my students achieve top in their class and gain an interest in the subject.

I firmly believe that learning should be made interesting and done through understanding, rather than rote learning which some tutors may, unfortunately, advocate. With my experience in vouluntary teaching, I have confidence that I can bring the best out of my students.

Commitment / Other Details: I'm currently doing my degree with the University of London, under Singapore Institute of Management (SIM). My school ends by 3pm on most days and my afternoons are usually left free as I do not have any other commitments currently. Therefore, I am able to start teaching as soon as the client requests for and I should be able to commit until a tuition assignment is completed.

Rapport Building: It is important to first get to know both the student and his/her parents and have a basic background information of them. Trust must then be build gradually to allow the parents to entrust their child with me and have confident that their child will perform. I will also find out the parents' current and eventual aim of the child's academic performance. By having a conversation with the child, it is important to then find out what type of learner the child is, whether he/she is an auditory, visual, or a kinesthetic learner and then adapt my teaching style which is optimal for the student in order for him/her to excel.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: I have a younger brother who will be taking his PSLE next year and he allows me to remain updated with the education system whenever I help him out with his school assignments. Along with external practices from assessment books and guide books, guiding him through such practices not only ensures that he remains competitive among his peers but it also keeps me well-informed of the current requirements of today's challenging education system.

Commitment / Other Details: My lessons are 1.5h long, because that is the optimum length where a student can best absorb information, after which, the learning efficiency decreases. My lessons are generally on weekends, but exceptions can be negotiated. Group classes are conducted at my classroom, which is a 5 minutes walk away from Kallang MRT. Private 1-1 classes are also available.

Rapport Building: Parents: Constant feedback about the child's progress and working in hand with the parents to further help the child, especially in helping with the child stay motivated and disciplined to do his revision. Most students are smart! But they just need the little extra help from us to excel in their studies.

Students: Understand their worries/concerns/fears and thinking about things from their point of view and design a method to best deliver the content across and enable them to also RETAIN the content, such that they do not need to do excessive re-revision, which can be time consuming.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: I update myself with a library of school's exam papers yearly and pick out the trend of the exam questions and answering techniques. This library of exam papers will also be made available to students when they sign up with me.
