Rapport Building: Many people when started studying programming, face with the problem of not knowing how to start to approach their programming assignments and usually have doubt in their understanding of the concepts. Because of this, some may find that programming is a very complicated subject.

For the beginning, we will first sit down to find out your understanding of the subject and determine what concepts are you having difficulty with. We will then target the specific topics and do practices to you have a good grip on the topic before proceeding.

In addition to learning about the language, you will learn techniques and skills that can help when writing programs.

-how to break down a problem into parts and to start writing solution for them

-When writing program, it unusual to not error when you first compile your program. you will learn how to read the compilation error message and reduce the your time in fixing them.

-Learn how to make use of a debugger to debug your program. This will help to reduce the time it takes in finding out what is causing unexpected behaviour of your code.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: Yearly syllabus updates sent by MOE is brought under light and i keep updating my notes accordingly. I keep up closely with the schools in order to emphasize on the strong building of fundamentals in the students. I do not deviate from the school curriculum, as this will completely defeat the purpose of attending tuition classes.

As a Good Tutor: We must understand the needs of a student, beyond studies. Some students may not be able to focus well in certain subjects due to their aversion and dislike. we need to understand their interest and make them like the subject by teaching it in a way they like. for this we need to understand the students well.

Tuition/Teaching Experience: I had one year of official teaching experience, which I had taught a Secondary 3 student with her Math. After teaching her for the first month, she improved vastly as she started to understand the concepts that she previously cannot understand.

While in secondary school, I often returned to my primary school to teach Primary 5 and 6 students who were faring poorly in their Math and helped them out in their schoolwork. The students very often returned with great improvements and jumps in their grades. In Junior College, I participated in the Straits Time Step-up programme in which I volunteered to teach and supervise the lower income Primary 6 students in their schoolwork. This helped them greatly in their preparation for PSLE.

I do not subscribe to rote-memorization without understanding. My teaching method is by way of explaining ideas and concepts to my students so that they are able to understand and apply them. I also bring this into the context of answering the examination papers. As for practice, I do not unnecessarily load them with extra homework, as many schools already load their students with assignments and tutorial which the students already struggle with. However, I do make reference to the O-Level 5-/10-Year Past Exam Papers from the official MOE publishers for practice.
I also try to instill interest in the subject matter (Science in particular) to my students so that they will be able to appreciate the subject and see how it applies to society and to themselves personally.
