Tuition/Teaching Experience
All the students I taught at the secondary level till completion, when they go on to take the O-level examination have obtained at least a credit or better. I have brought up the level of many students from a failing grade to either a good credit or even a distinction, and they have gone on to either the Polytechnics or JCs.

Teaching method/ pedagogy

I do not subscribe to rote-memorization without understanding. My teaching method is by way of explaining ideas and concepts to my students so that they are able to understand and apply them. I also bring this into the context of answering the examination papers. As for practice, I do not unnecessarily load them with extra homework, as many schools already load their students with assignments and tutorial which the students already struggle with. However, I do make reference to the O-Level 5-/10-Year Past Exam Papers from the official MOE publishers for practice.
I also try to instill interest in the subject matter (Science in particular) to my students so that they will be able to appreciate the subject and see how it applies to society and to themselves personally.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
Current information obtained from SEAB directly, each year.
Material used would be from past-year papers and other schools exam papers where possible

I was appointed as peer tutor for H2 maths in jc2 to guide my peers in the subject. I was resolved in clearing the misconceptions that my peers had. Certain that a strong foundation is essential in mathematics, I rigorously guided them through many examples. Despite my lack of other teaching experience, I am determined to give my best for my student. I will work conscientiously to help my student grasp important concepts and to build on that such that it stretches them further. I am certain that through relentless practices, students will become more confident during their examinations.

Able to start from April 6. I would be available on evenings during the weekdays (except Wednesday) and from morning to late afternoon on weekends. I am however, enrolling into University in August, hence my availability may differ thereafter.
      Rapport Building
Since I am of similar age with my tutees, i would be able to relate to them more easily. Through interactions, i would be able to understand the problems they may be facing, and the stress that they have to go through. Having been through similar difficulties, I could guide them through their struggles. It would also allow me to help their parents understand their child more.
      Keeping Up with Curriculum
Having graduated from junior college about 2 years ago, the concepts taught remains fresh in my memory. I would also make it a point to exchange resources with my other tutor friends so that a variety of questions could be covered.
      As a Good Tutor
I believe a good tutor is one who never gives up on their students. I was fortunate to be under the tutorship of several great teachers who helps their students relentlessly and made it interesting to learn the subject. Hence, I hope to arouse their interest in the subjects I tutor, such that they would be more determined to do well.

As i have just finished my national service, i have more time on my hands to tutor students and i am willing to take them through both semesters for the entire year, even while i am handling my school work in university. I prefer weekend classes and i am prefer to give 1-1 student-teacher class to students to ensure that the i am able to give my full attention to aid the student in building and integrating their school work and knowledge, ultimately fostering their exam skills and formats.
          Rapport Building
I do sign-up for tutoring programmes at my alma mater and am able to handle weaker students and improve their grades even at A levels. As the subjects i teach are literary ones, i often go through the concepts with my students more than once to reinforce their impression on the course material if i feel that they are weak at grasping that particular topic.
          Keeping Up with Curriculum
I am very familiar with A level history teaching courseware and examinations format as of the current syllabus. I regularly keep in touch with the syllabus to ensure that i understand and know what to teach my students on how to answer examination questions as well as to foster interest in the subject itself.
          As a Good Tutor
I believe tutors should have good time management and dedication as well as commitment to their charges. Teaching and learning are two different roles that should not be confused as a good learner may not be a good teacher. What is important is that the tutor is able to get the student to see his/her point in certain arguments, as i have experienced while dealing with subjects that are grounded in language and humanities. As literary subjects are mostly taken by choice with the notable exception of english, it is necessary for the students to be able to generate their own insights and analysis on the subject matter, not only through guidance and points from the teacher.

I am willing to give extra time if the the student requires when they come to my place for tuition or when I am out teaching at tutee's place. Students usually text me through whatsapp to ask questions and clarify doubts. I have always committed myself to teach my students till the end of the national examinations, be it PSLE or GCE O and N Level examinations. Usually the
sessions intensify when the examination dates draw nearer at both parents' and students'
request. I have abundant resources to share with my tutees since I have painstakingly built it up over the years and constantly adding more.
                Rapport Building
I am able to engage students in my lessons. Students have commented that they find my lessons useful and interesting. Hence, they do not realise that time passes quickly. I always encourage them to air their views and opinions and discuss current affairs with them which is so essential in helping them to cope with the demands of both writing and oral communication components of the examinations. I also make it a point to give an update on the child'd performance and progress to their parents and guardians on a regular basis because I believe parents indeed play a crucial part in helping their child improve and excel in their academic performance.
                Keeping Up with Curriculum
Being a current school teacher certainly has its benefits. I am updated with the latest changes and new requirements of the curriculum. The courses and numerous workshops I attend keep me abreast of what is going on in the education arena. In that way, I am able to tailor my lessons to help my students prepare for the changes in the curriculum.
                As a Good Tutor
In summary, what I deem makes a good tutor is to be able to identify with the needs of the students and therefore adopt suitable teaching strategies that will cater to the latter's needs. The tutor should be a friend and a mentor to them and inspire as well as encourage students to work hard to fulfil their potential. A good tutor will be able to get students to work with him and motivate them to work to achieve the grades that they have set for themselves. The rest of the qualities are expected and they are a sense of responsibility and commitment.

There is no textbook in teaching and with the help from my mentor and colleagues, I have figured out my own style of teaching and I am constantly reflecting on my teaching methods and strategies so that I can put across the learning points to the students more effectively. I have the determination and passion to give my best to every student's learning journey!

Having conducted Media Literacy Programme, an enrichment course in many secondary and primary schools. Accompanied with working with primary and secondary schools kids through camps, i have learnt to be better able to tailor learning schedules and programmes to the needs of each individual and through the different approaches, help the kid learn better and more efficiently.

                  Rapport Building
As insignificant as it may seem, being punctual is what i deem most important. Building rapport shouldn't be something done deliberately but rather, reflects the character of a tutor. I believe that what's more important is placing my heart and soul to help the kid improve in the subject of study. Having done so, rapport will follow.
                  Keeping Up with Curriculum
Reading and updating myself to the latest syllabus consistently.
                  As a Good Tutor
The ability to tailor the teaching approach to the specific needs of individuals, allowing students to be passionate and interested in the subject of study.
