Education is a two-sided affair. The tutor may be good, or the tutor may be lousy; but it also depends on the students' willingness and ability to learn. It is without a doubt that my dedication for both the parent and the student will not be misplaced, however, it should also be understood that tutors are not miracle workers and the push for the A grade takes time and commitment from both sides.

Commitment / Other Details: I am currently studying as well but my timings are flexible. My preferable timings are in the mornings and evenings, inclusive of weekends.

I have attended leadership training courses so I am fully equipped to deal with Primary School or Special Needs children.

I will accept below-average rates if tution locations are facilitated at my own house. It will not be student-teacher only as I share the house with my mother as well.

Rapport Building: Attended Leadership training courses in the year of 2014, catering to the character development of children all over Singapore aged 11-21 through camps. This leadership course/camp is facilitated under High Achievers.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: Syllabus changes are subjected to the MOE and I have the necessary sources to fully understand and pass on the knowledge to fellow students should the need arise of a syllabus change.

Usually there is no problem with the Primary School syllabus. For Geography, the syllabus is due to change in 2016.

As a Good Tutor: Attended Leadership training courses in the year of 2014, catering to the character development of children all over Singapore aged 11-21 through camps. This leadership course/camp is facilitated under High Achievers.

It is known to me that patience is the key to helping the growth of children. I am able to understand and fully bond with students both socially and in an academic standpoint so as to create the best tutor-student relationship so as to stimulate the best learning environment possible.

As a Good Tutor: In 2010 I travelled to Nepal as a volunteer to aid a village primary school in its infrastructural and educational developments. I am currently also serving in the children's ministry in my church, teaching young children about the bible and singing songs with them. Rapport Building: First of all, the tutor must make his/her student like their own family. I always try to treat the students as friends instead of teacher-student relationship so they will not be too stress. Once in a while crack some jokes, continuous encouragement helps a lot too so that student will feel motivated. Buy sweets or prizes as a form of reward if they done well in their assignment, test or exam.

Rapport Building: I have absolutely no problems with building rapport with students as they don't feel scared of me as I am friendly. But I will not allow any rude behaviour and make sure that students keep on the task and learn effectively in a non-threatening environment.

Through my teaching years in school, most of the students who I have taught before love having me as their teacher and keep in close contact with me even after I have left teaching in school.

I communicate expectations with parents and mediate the difference in expectations of parents and ability of students. I like to keep parents in the loop about how their child is progressing and I will offer to give my phone number to the student for her to contact me when she has trouble with any school work too.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: I am very acquainted with the syllabus as I have just left school earlier in January 2015. I also have friends who are still in the teaching line who will update me about any change in syllabus. I am well versed with a lot of teaching methods to help students understand how to solve math sums quickly.

As a Good Tutor: I will always make sure that I complete all that I planned to do within the tuition session, even if it means having to spend more time in each session, at absolutely no extra charges. I just take it upon myself that I need to finish all that I feel the students need to know before I leave that particular tuition session.

I am also punctual for all my tuition sessions and I always like to talk to parents about how they can help their child improve. This feedback may need some time to be given to parents as I need to take time to understand the child. But I will give whatever feedback possible to their parents and I appreciate parents who can share with me about what they understand about how their child learns so that we can help the child improve together.
