Commitment / Other Details: I will be able to start to tutoring new students in November 2017, after my current batch of Sec 4 students finish their O levels. Able to commit all the way until student finishes O levels.

Rapport Building: I have absolutely no problems with building rapport with students as they don't feel scared of me as I am friendly. But I will not allow any rude behaviour and make sure that students keep on the task and learn effectively in a non-threatening environment.

Through my teaching years in school, most of the students who I have taught before love having me as their teacher and keep in close contact with me even after I have left teaching in school.

I communicate expectations with parents and mediate the difference in expectations of parents and ability of students. I like to keep parents in the loop about how their child is progressing and I will offer to give my phone number to the student for her to contact me when she has trouble with any school work too.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: I am very acquainted with the syllabus as I have just left school earlier in January 2015. I also have friends who are still in the teaching line who will update me about any change in syllabus. I am well versed with a lot of teaching methods to help students understand how to solve math sums quickly.

As a Good Tutor: I will always make sure that I complete all that I planned to do within the tuition session, even if it means having to spend more time in each session, at absolutely no extra charges. I just take it upon myself that I need to finish all that I feel the students need to know before I leave that particular tuition session.

I am also punctual for all my tuition sessions and I always like to talk to parents about how they can help their child improve. This feedback may need some time to be given to parents as I need to take time to understand the child. But I will give whatever feedback possible to their parents and I appreciate parents who can share with me about what they understand about how their child learns so that we can help the child improve together.

Rapport Building: I am good with kids. Mostly because I myself have a younger brother who is currently P4. I understand that patience is key and that every child wants someone to simply listen to them. I engage the student to talk about things they like and to share it with me to build rapport (and it's an excellent way to practice English for International students).

For older students, it's slightly easier as students generally tend to focus and understand better.

I will ask the student for feedback after every lesson to make sure that he/she is comfortable and to see whether there are special requests/suggestions that might improve the efficiency of the tuition.

I sit down with the parents to give feedback every week and listen to their requirements and updates them on how their child is doing.

My lessons are very flexible and I adapt my ways to the student to dome extent to improve the outcome of the sessions.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: I am very familiar with primary and secondary mathematics curriculum as I have been updating myself with them and going through them often to make up some mock questions for my students.

For language, international schools seem to have different approaches as compared with usual schools. I will adjust my teaching accordingly.

As for physics, I have not taught physics yet but I have always been good at physics and am revising the curriculum up to O level.

Rapport Building: With pupils, I would build a rapport by having motivational talks with the pupils. My main aim is to get the pupils to understand that my job is to help them improve in their studies such that they could attain a better grade to move up to a better class or school after their PSLE.

I would also play games with them (handphone, boardgames etc) to break the ice and get to know them better.

I normally would give my contact details to the pupils so that they know that if they have a problem with their work, I am a call or message away.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: As a teacher, I have to be updated with the curriculum. The various workshops that my school conducted keep me abreast with the latest.

As a Good Tutor: A tutor should be patient. I personally believe a good tutor is not one to rush through topics but one who is able to focus on the weaknesses of a pupils for a particular topic and guide him/her till he/she is able to attempt such topics with ease.
