Commitment / Other Details: I am able to start from 7 Apr onward, with a gap between 17 - 23 Apr due to personal commitments. I have a placing in NTU Mathematics (Aug) as well as various offers to overseas universities (Oct). As such, depending on the outcome of my scholarship applications, should I be going overseas, I will not be able to teach after October. If I continue to study locally I will be able to commit longer periods to the student.

Rapport Building: I will spend additional time to find out the student and parent's needs first before tutoring, and also try to suit the student's learning style.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: I always read the syllabus as well as match past year papers with the syllabus to make sure I understand the requirements.

As a Good Tutor: A good tutor shouldn't just teach the subject, he must also inculcate interest in the subject. Rather than teach using a generic monologue top-down teaching style, more must be done to ensure understanding.

Rapport Building: I have been voluntarill teaching kids in community centres for the past few years and I do know how to communicate better with them as I can understand then and their language they use.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: I have just taken my o levels two years ago and I am familiar with the questions that are likely to be repeated, having done the exam myself. I am aware that the syllabus have been slightly changed last year and have kept up with it through my younger brother's textbooks and test paper and the Internet.

As a Good Tutor: I believe that it is very important for the student and the tutor to communicate properly. It I vital that I understand what the child do not understand and repeat concepts without the child saying so. Also, i will break down hard concepts and summarise them in a few minutes so that they can understand concepts more effectively, practice also makes perfect.

It's been a wonderful 6 years teaching and educating the young and while I tend to be strict with my students regarding homework submissions and their attitude in the subjects, they usually end up loving the rigour of my lessons. So far, most of my students obtain As in their respective subjects.

I have experience with teaching slightly autistic students as well as dyslexic students. My psychology degree helps greatly in that aspect. I do not treat them much differently from my other students though, homework has still has to be handed in etc. :) I also have experience in teaching Intl students as well.
