Rapport Building: I am an outgoing person and can easily communicate well with both parents and students. As I am young, some parents may think that I am inexperienced, however, be assured that I have had experience in tutoring before. In addition, the fact that I am rather young can be and has been proven to be an added benefit as some students may be shy around older adults and as a result, are unable to communicate well with them. Thus, me, being closer to the students' age group, will be able to connect with the students better and ensure that they truly understand what I have been teaching.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: I have researched online and I also look through assessment books from time to time to keep myself updated with the current syllabus. (Be it Primary, Secondary or Junior College)

As a Good Tutor: Personally, I feel that the two basic qualities of a good tutor are: compassion and patience. I think that I am quite a kind and patient person and will make sure the student understand the concepts I am teaching no matter how long it takes and that is why I have often exceeded the time slot for tutoring sessions.

Rapport Building: I normally try to understand the child's curriculum demands and ask students what they were taught during the week, then supplement it before starting on my own lesson plan. This allows me to better understand the school's learning culture and how I can help in the student's learning, which fosters better communication rather than enforcing my own lesson plan. Parents are welcome to sit in to monitor the first few lessons, and I will normally update the parents on the child's progress every month!

Keeping Up with Curriculum: As a tutor who currently teaches both primary and secondary students, I am well-informed about the latest practices for multiple subjects. I keep updated over the years through constant communication with parents and students, and referring to revised textbooks at bookstores.

As a Good Tutor: My past experiences as a tutor has showed me that I have a way with kids and younger students; a natural ability to connect with the tutee and allow them to be comfortable with clarifying their doubts. A good tutor is someone who manages to instill passion into the subject through alternative teaching methods. This means that a typical tuition lesson introduces different views from the ones provided in school, so that they have a holistic understanding of the subject and apply their knowledge better during tests.

SMU student - Mr Ang helped to pull my Calculus grade from a D to a B+. He is a very patient teacher. He will go through a problem multiple times to help me understand it. He understands the subject very well to create simple examples which can be easily understood. The principles from those examples can then be used to answer practice questions and exams questions. He has a passion for teaching and he wants to share his love for mathematics with his students. Before he started tutoring me, I really disliked calculus. However, he helped me developed a respect and admiration for the subject of calculus.
