I will tailor the lesson to fit the child's goals. for instance if the child expresses desire to pursue a humanities based education I will taillor the material accordingly, especially to build a knowledge base that will help him/her in the area of his/her interest.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: I know many school teachers. We often meet to update each other on the newest details of the school curriculum. Also I will go to hte bookstores and look at the most current textbooks to see what is being taught.

As a Good Tutor: I believe a good tutor will balance the students' expectations with the expectations of the parents. I believe in total honestly. If someone asks me if their child can pass, I will give an honest assessment. If they ask me if their child can get an A in the time given, I will give an honest answer. I do not believe in exaggeration or lies. Also, as a teacher of many years my first goal is always the child's happiness and welfare. I am by nature a non-elitist... I believe a child from a neighbourhood schooling environment can be as good as or even better than a child from an elite school. its all a matter of the type of education that is given. basic quality of a good tutor is one who can encourage a child to believe that he/she can and that they need to work hard. ALso the tutor has to have good knowledge of the subject area and ability to communicate the idea to the child in a fashion that the child finds interesting. i do not despise failure or think that it is the end, it is important for the tutor to instill a sense of resilience in the child, that life is about picking oneself up and moving on towards personal success as a person and that there are any routes to personal success.
