          Before the start of the tuition session, I'll message if the student has any topics that he or she is weak in, or wishes to go through because of a test. I'll prepare certain worksheets before the session to get a general gauge of their understanding in the topic, and depending on the student's progress, the student will do the worksheet at home himself or on the spot and I'll go through their mistakes with them. The worksheets I provide will be harder as the lesson progresses.
          Keeping Up with Curriculum
          I'm more familiar with the IP syllabus, as I have a younger sister taking the IP syllabus currently, so I have access to the school's curriculum. As I have just graduated from JC, I'm still familiar with the current JC syllabus. I also have juniors whom I can check with regarding the syllabus.
          As a Good Tutor
          Commitment. Depending on my schedule, I'll try to ensure that there is sufficient time for the student to grasp everything he needs to know before sitting for the exams. (so I'll try my best to complete the syllabus until he sits for the exam at the end of the year if time permits) Clear and concise explanations as the student has to understand some of the concepts that he might not be able to understand. Rapport with the student to ensure that they enjoy my lessons sufficiently to be willing to engage and listen.

            I find that I can understand where students are coming from and take into account their concerns and learning pattern. In that aspect, I am pretty flexible. That said, I also find it important to have my students set goals for themselves and expect them to work with me to follow through and meet them. However, I tend not to follow a rigid structure in my lessons. I prefer for lessons to be more interactive as I find that it helps me find the best approach with each individual student. As for my relationship with parents, I fully understand their need to know as much of their child's progress and am willing to work and discuss with them any concerns they may have.
            Keeping Up with Curriculum
            I make it a point to keep up with the latest syllabus and examination formats by finding out from friends who are teachers in MOE, though I do find the changes in syllabus for the subjects I teach (English and Literature) to be minimal
            As a Good Tutor
            I commit to being reliable in terms of not repeatedly cancelling my lessons and in unavoidable circumstances where I cannot make it for any lesson, I attempt to schedule in another to make up for it. What students require is a routine and I do my best not to disrupt it. I have also found over the years that flexibility on my part is important, and thus try my level best to meet the needs of each assignment.
