Rapport Building: I believe that communication is the most important part of rapport building. As a result, I regularly update parents of tuition sessions and how their children are progressing. I also highlight their strengths and weaknesses to parents and tutees and let them know what I plan to do to help them. In terms of scheduling, I always confirm my session the lesson before and once more the day before the session to accommodate to any changes necessary on the part of parents or tutees. In building rapport with students, I often set aside10-15 minutes either before or after tuition to ask them about their progress in school and advise them when necessary since I have experience teaching in a mainstream secondary school.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: I regularly consult both my ex-colleagues and tutees about the MOE school curriculum for the subjects I teach in order to take note of changes and therefore change my teaching methods or strategies.

As a Good Tutor: Having studied psychology and going through training as a secondary school teacher, I am able to cater my teaching methods to my students which have received positive feedback from both parents and students. I believe that in order to help a student fulfill their academic potential, we need to not only push their academic limits, but also motivate them to study for themselves. This have shown to be effective in achieving stark improvements in the grade of students over the semester.
