Tuition/Teaching Experience: I have been tutoring for the past three years and have taught Jc1s, secondary school students and primary school students. In my opinion, i think it's important for me to understand my tutees and their studying methods before helping them in their studies. I will also put in the effort to understand why they have not been doing well in their studies and to help them based on their character and attitude. I will always make sure my tutees have a strong foundation of their subjects (topics) before moving on to another topic. I have also been awarded the SAJC scholarship and Daisy Phay Foundation Award in 2013 and 2014 for academic excellence and leadership qualities. Commitment / Other Details: I am a Full-time Tutor whom is available from Mondays to Sundays, 8am to 10pm and am able to start tuition immediately. Also, I may conduct individual tuition (travel to client's home) or group tuition (Max up to 3 students, either client's home or my home in Punggol) upon request.

Rapport Building: During the lesson, I will try to get to know the students so that I know their character to facilitate my teaching. For younger students, usually I will use games which incorporate the Mathematics to gain their attention and interest. For older students, I focus more on the techniques and tips on solving the questions. As for the parents, I ensure I have a review with them on their child/children on the student's progress and upcoming plans after each session. This will keep them updated and also help to monitor the students' homework and assignments I had given.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: I will occasionally visit the Popular Bookshops and browse through the current Textbooks and Assessment books to keep myself updated with the latest syllabuses. Moreover, I also use the EASB website to ensure the latest syllabuses that students will be examined on, to familiarize myself with the teaching content. Sometimes, I will also buy the textbooks or ten years series as reference and preparation before tuition sessions.

As a Good Tutor: I am proficient in the Primary and Secondary Level Mathematics syllabuses and are proven from my track record - O Level's Double A1 in both EMaths and AMaths. Scored at least A for all my Engineering Mathematics subjects in my diploma. Moreover, I possessed a B.Sc (Hons) in Applied Mathematics from NTU. These strong foundation and passion in Mathematics will help in coaching Primary and Secondary students.

Commitment / Other Details: Just a little about myself:

In the past, I studied Early Childhood Education (Leadership) in polytechnic as I have a passion in working with young children. Throughout my entire course of education, I managed to achieve a place in the director's list every year and graduated as top 10% of the cohort. I have an innate interest to teach and guide the next generation of students under my care within the classroom walls. Granted, after 3 years of attachment and internship at ground level in three different preschools (2012: MYFIRSTSKOOL, 2013: KIDZONE, 2014: MINDCHAMPS) , I now have the skills and knowledge to motivate pupils to strive for more productive study sessions and ultimately, better results.

After graduating with a diploma with merit in early childhood education and also a diploma plus in business, I was accepted into universities of my choice, both NUS (Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences) and NTU (Psychology) and I chose to accept the latter. I believe that studying about human behaviour in Psychology would give me an edge in dealing with my pupils as I have learnt about what drives behavior, allowing me to derive from its implications to hone my skills in teaching. In teaching, I believe that no two child learn in the same manner thus I would always strive to approach a problem from different angles, be it using visual aids, drawing models and diagrams, or even imparting a concept through short stories to better aid memory. The teacher's attitude is vital toward's a child's success because if we believe in every child and bring out their best potential, only then can an industrious child flourish and blossom.

Lastly, I am determined and always give the best in what I do. I believe that through a mutually rewarding student-teacher partnership, both the teacher and the learner can soar to greater heights. Thank you.

Tuition/Teaching Experience: I used to tutor a total of 6 children and they were aged 8 to 16 years old. I did that for almost a year and a half while i was studying for my degree course. As I was also studying during that period, I realised to my horror that my exam schedule was very similar to the schedule of my students so I determined that I would continue to see them through their exam period. Rapport Building: The first lesson would usually be a warm up session where time will be taken to build rapport with the student. Questions would usually be asked and i would try and build a friendship with the child. As time goes by, a simple rewards system will be included to encourage the child to continue working and developing themselves further. Parents will be kept informed of their progress throughout the lessons.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: I would usually check out the latest assessment books and see what textbooks the children are using in school. I would then purchase and read ahead of the students. I would prefer to to play the enforcer role rather than a teacher role as curriculum and syllabus have changed over time. I do not encourage children to do their school work during my tuition time as I think they should be exposed to assessment books as this would help enhance their learning. I encourage the students to ask me if they have any questions regarding their school work but tuition is not a time for them to do their homework, i will assist them with a couple of questions and will encourage them to finish their work on their own at their own time.

As a Good Tutor: I believe strongly in being honest and upfront with both parents and students (depending on their age). I believe also being prepared and diligent for the lesson as a tutor is important and professional as well. I admit that I may not be the best tutor around but I will try and seek help to ensure that your child will learn something. I do not believe in dull or boring lessons as tuition should be seen as something to enhance and not give added stress to the child. I have always encourage the child or parent inform me if they find that I am giving too much work as I do not want to overload the child with too much. Overall, I believe that a tutor will need to work hard and have a good attitude as the child and parent will be watching you as well.
