    Commitment / Other Details
I am able to start immediately, however tuition timings need to adhere to my university schedule. I am willing to commit to a tuition assignment for a full year, and may consider to continue tutoring when the student starts a new year too. All weekday evenings are alright, except for wednesdays. I am available during weekends too. I may need to hold make up lessons during the week that i have my exams or tests.
    Rapport Building
First of all, i make sure to report on time and start work as soon as possible. I build rapport with the student by understanding his/her individual needs and building confidence in their subjects by giving encouragement. I try to connect with them as much as i can; i am their tutor but i also want to be their friend, who is sincere in helping them to improve in areas that they need.
I build rapport with parents by giving feedback about their children after the tutoring session. I share with them their child's strengths and weaknesses, and also how they can assist me in playing a part in their child's improvement in the subject.
    Keeping Up with Curriculum
I refer to the current textbooks and assessment books to keep up with the curriculum. I also research on the updates of the syllabus of the subjects which i teach.
    As a Good Tutor
As a good tutor, i believe that all students have great potential. I believe in order to achieve maximum improvement and achieve great results, there must be the crucial cooperation and teamwork between the tutor and the tutee. I am willing to work hard to adhere to my tutee's needs, but I strongly believe that the tutee must put in a substantial amount of hard work in order to see results too. As a good tutor i make sure i give lots of encouragement to my tutee and recognize their efforts and progress no matter how small they are. This is because I have once been a student before and i know what it's like to hear from a teacher that i am making progress despite my current grade to be low.
To sum up, i believe that the first step to being a good tutor is to have faith in my students, and have the end in mind. It may seem like a long journey to achieve the desired results, but with persistent hard work and determination of both tutor and tutee, the results are guaranteed.

I have been teaching Biology and Chemistry for the past 6 years. My students have consistently scored B3 and above for both subjects in the GCE 'O' Levels. I have also taught IP students as well as GCE 'A' Level Biology. Normally, I start the lesson with a revision and clarify any doubts the students might have. I am able to provide additional notes/summary/practises that can help the students in their learning and revision.

I've tutored a few kids over a span of 1 year mainly E math & A Math. They got B3 and above,
I've always drill my tutees when it comes to math because it's very much on practicing and understanding what the question is asking for. I've tutored primary school science as well. Due to myself taking the science stream in JC, it made it a lot easier to explain the concepts to the kids. Science is a lot about understanding and memorizing the details. So I'll always do repetitive reminders since that helped me a lot during major exams.

So I'll always relate to my kids and share personal experiences with them and assure them that my methods works, to spur them on. If they do well, I'll always reward them will some goodies so as to encourage them to work harder. Encouragement is always better than reprimanding them.

            As a Good Tutor
I believe that everyone has the potential to do well academically. But it takes a good teacher to bring out these potentials. And I strongly believe that the tutor has to work closely with the parents and student in order to help the student grow. I always like to encourage my tutees but at the same time I'll always remind them not to be complacent with their results. All in all, I think building a good rapport with the child would help a lot with teaching and I aim to build that will my kids to help them learn more

I had a five-month experience teaching Maths and English to a Secondary 3 girl. Her Maths grade improved from D5 to a A2. However, the duration was too short for such a significant improvement in her English grade.

I have also had a two-year experience tutoring students of various ages to prepare them for the SAT exam and US university application. I had taken the SAT myself and had scored 2250/2400. My application to US university can be considered successful as I had been admitted to Wesleyan College (ranked 15 in liberal arts), Colgate College (ranked 22) and Macalester College (ranked 24) with scholarship.

I talk to my students and look through their works if allowed to understand their levels and needs. As much as possible, I will not make unreasonable demands for my students but if I and their parents deem that the student needs a push in terms of discipline, I am willing to do so. However, my students have never complained that I am too strict or dry, because I always try to supply lessons with interesting materials that add to their knowledge and are easy to remember.
              Keeping Up with Curriculum

              As a Good Tutor
I think a good tutor should be devoted and open minded: they should be willing to dig deep and see the core needs of each student instead of imposing an one-size-fit-all methods.

My most recent achievement is of a Sec Two girl who managed to get a B4 for english for her final exams last year. She was not able to pass the subject since Secondary 1.

                  Rapport Building
Every child is different and it takes a different kind of approach towards each individual child. Customized teaching techniques and my own teaching materials helps to make the lesson enjoyable.
                  Keeping Up with Curriculum
                  As a Good Tutor
As a good tutor, you do not only play the role of an educator; at times, you have to know when you should be a peer to a child. Patience is key and I think emotional support and motivational words helps build confidence in the child's learning progress.
