      I will be undergoing my bar course and will have classes to attend during some of the weekdays, thus i can arrange timings which will be suitable for me. However, I will be free during the weekdays.

      I usually like to interact with the students as i teach. I get to know them better and try to teach them according to their needs and interests. I myself have struggled to find studying interesting and have found ways to understand concepts better in a more interesting way and i hope to inculcate these methods on the students. I always strive to make lessons more interesting so that learning is made more fun and bearable for students.
      Keeping Up with Curriculum
      I have bought some assessment books and textbooks to read up on the current curriculum. I would also read up more if i need to, according to the students needs. I will definitely prepare myself for every lesson by reading up on the relevant topics so that i would be ready to teach them and be able to answer any query.

      The fundamental quality required for a tutor is patience. Apart from that, the ability to interact with children is also crucial, as it allows the tutor to be able to detect the students' needs and interests so as to cater the teaching to his/her liking. I believe i possess these qualities and more that would enable students to not only learn but also enjoy learning in the process.

        My name is Riggs. As a part-time tutor, I have commited most of my NS days to giving tuition to supplement additional secondary income. In the past, I was not a very good student. At PSLE, I scored 199. At secondary school, I realized that doing well in school is just more than doing homework and listening in class. I have realized that a reliable, consistent and positive tutor is needed to put in place values such as discipline and hard work to do well in school. Having scored an L1R5 of 35, a close teacher inspired me to become better and with his guidance, I have done relatively well for O levels with a score of 10 after deductions. As such, like my teacher, I would like to likewise teach not only the subjects but also some values that I believe is crucial for a person to do well beyond the level they are studying.
        Keeping Up with Curriculum
        To keep updated, I regularly visit my old schools and would often request to see and for the student to explain the syllabus to me. Usually, the textbook is enough to score As in exams.
        As a Good Tutor
        As a good tutor, I believe that every paragraph is important and the important question to ask in every paragraph of the textbook is "what is the main point of this? And what is most likely to be tested?" As a good tutor, I aim to teach study skills and values more over than content as I believe in a holistic education as what my school and teachers have inculcated in me.

                My students are usually recurring and I teach them for more than 2 years. I major in Mechanical engineering and am extremely strong in Math and Science (physics and chemistry). All of my students improved from B/C to A during the final exams. I love personalizing each lesson to suit the needs/wants of the student. Consistency is key. Hence, I always encourage my students to ask me questions even outside tuition hours. This is also so that I can keep track of their progress. In addition, I am very good at spotting questions that might come out in the finals exams. I believe in tackling questions using the most efficient way and I will teach my students how to do so, given the time constraint of an examination setting.

                Learning need not be tedious and monotonous, if required, i will make use of videos to explain concepts better, especially for subjects such as physics and chemistry that are beneficial to have some form of visualisation. As long as there is teamwork between the student and tutor, the student will definitely see improvements in his/her results.
                Informing the parents of their children's progress is extremely important as well. In order for the tutoring sessions to be fully successful, the tutor, tutee as well as parents must work together to achieve a unanimous goal, which is fulfilling the desired results during the final examinations. I will inform the parents what i have gone through during the session and set goals with them and the student (s). I also encourage parents to sit in during the first lesson so that they can understand/critic my teaching style.
                Keeping Up with Curriculum
                I have very good guidebooks on hand and I do not save on getting updated ones. In addition, consistently tutoring is the best way to keep up with the curriculum. Flipping through PYPs during my free time helps too.
