    The first step is to speak to the students and teachers to understand the current state of the students preparedness and ability in the subject. after ascertaining current ability, I can then craft lessons to work for the students. During lessons I inject personal experiences and learn more about the students in order to better tailor lessons to their needs, while still maintaining the standard of tutoring.

    I frequently read syllabus documents and do papers to familiarise myself with how the subjects are graded and marked as per MOE and SEAB. I read widely to ensure that content is relevant, especially when giving examples for essays and other content areas.

      As a student, I understand the struggle that students face when clarifying doubts and seeking help. Thus, I seek to be both a friendly senior and a tutor to the student such that the student feels less shy and more willing to ask for help. I am willing to come to class earlier and end later to get to know more about the student, as well as share my own personal experiences and life in school with my student. Easily contactable, especially via telegram, students can feel free to ask questions and I will do my best to answer the question.
      Keeping Up with Curriculum
      To keep up with curriculum, I need to ask for the student's scheme of work for that year such that I understand the sequence of the topics being taught. I also regularly update myself by looking for assessment books and textbooks at bookstores and reference to my own school notes. Lastly, I also read the relevant examination boards' learning objectives to ensure that I cover all the needed points before the student takes the examination.
      As a Good Tutor
      As a tutor, I am willing to help the student to the best of my abilities by offering notes, personalised quizzes to tackle the more tricky areas and offer clarification whenever needed. I can also help to source for assessment books and worksheets for students should they need extra work to solidify their foundation. Depending on the student's learning attitude, I can also adapt and change to become more patient or assertive to ensure that the student learns more efficiently and lessons are more productive.

          Keeping Up with Curriculum
          My teaching style depends on the subject.
          1. MATHS (similarly for physics): I would firstly ensure that the fundamentals are solid and that conceptual understanding is strong so that the student can use their skills to adapt to each question. Thereafter, lots of practice would be needed. During or after each question, I would help to review the student's thought process and immediately point out any AFIs, conceptual misunderstandings, common mistakes, misreading the questions, or not knowing how to begin the question

          2. BIOLOGY - The trick to learning biology would be simplify the content and not see it as giant chunks of information. I would help the student to appreciate Biology better (eg. how we can relate concepts to real life) so that the student could rely better on common sense instead of just hard memory. However, we cannot escape the memory work, and I would teach the students how to make memory easier by organising concepts and making their own notes. Practise wise, I would pick out questions that fall into 2 categories - standard, frequently-tested questions, and general knowledge/application questions; and I'd like to use active recall via flashcard applications to enforce the learning

          3. CHEMISTRY - similar to biology; except that especially for H2 A levels, a lot more versatility and adaptability is needed, and thus teaching would be more practice-oriented

          At the end of the day, my teaching style would greatly depend on the ability of the student, as it would help to determine where I should start teaching from (basics, etc) and the goals in mind.
